National Cheerleading Championship" and won the championship in “Open Group Mixed Group 5” and the 3rd place in the "Open Group Mixed Group."

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology cheerleading team participated in "Cheering for the World University Games - 105 years National Cheerleading Championship," organized by Taiwan Tournament Cheerleading Association of the Republic of China at Tamkang University in New Taipei City. With its brilliant performance, the team won the championship in Open Group Mixed Group 5 as well as the second place in both "Designated Action Open Group" and “University Pyramid Group.”

"Cheering for the World University Games - 105 years National Cheerleading Championship" encompassed 13 competition groups in two days, with up to 320 teams from 97 units to join the competition. The tournament set up 5 classes of cheerleader competitions and6 scoring criteria for the implementation of the team in terms of their skills of stability in completion, including slogans, dance skills, pyramids, basket-cast, turning movements, fluency and transfer process. The overall process showed great appeals to the audience with great dancing and moves. Among them, cheerleaders from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology in the "open group mixed level 5" won the championship in Open Group Mixed Group 5 as well as the second place in both "Designated Action Open Group" and “University Pyramid Group.” Their brilliant performance greatly impressed the audience and the judges.

Wei-Ming Chen, Leader of STUST Cheerleading Club, expressed his gratitude for the support of the school, the guidance of coaches, and the training of the graduating seniors. In May this year, the team took part in the sports association of the Republic of China And the "2016 National Cheerleading Championships," organized by the Taiwan Competitive Cheerleading Association of the Republic of China; in June this year they were awarded the title of "Mixed Group of University and Junior High School Students" and "Technical College Rookie Group." In addition to the proper use of time to strengthen their studies, the contestants will assist the schools in organizing the "2016 Intercontinental Cup Cheerleading Tournament." Each player will develop the qualities and expertise of coaches, arranging the student process, editing the competition music, assisting in the production of the game props, etc.

Club Manager Yu-Jun Chen and Team jointly expressed their gratitude to the support of the school, coaches, and for their guidance in practice. All the players have fought against all odds for six months in the intensive training. Determined to win the championship, they wore short-sleeved sportswear while practicing the action and moves until late at night, even in winter. Their positive spirits and great efforts are remarkable and admirable. The instructor also encouraged the contestants to try their best to obtain the cheerleading professional license, cultivating their second specialty, while the time was compact and needed to be arranged every night and holiday for practice time together in group training. Despite the hardship of taking the three-o'clock bus from Tainan to Tamkang University in Taipei, the team fully showed the enthusiasm of southern Taiwan during the performance. The Cheerleading Club of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was established fourteenth years ago, as one of oldest student clubs in STUST. Despite the hardships during the initial period, it has been growing with all the efforts of senior students in the club and all the talented follow-ups. It is worth mentioning that graduated seniors have never stopped their love for cheerleading activities. Thanks to the positive efforts of coaches and everyone’s passions, STUST Cheerleading Club have been able to win in various competitions. About 80% of the contestants were graduates of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. In this contest, they also won the "Open Group Mixed Group" Runner-up and the "four mixed open skills group" fifth of the success. The enthusiasm in mutual support encourages them maintain the deep feelings and continuous progress. Through the coach's instruction, the community team of alumni showed enthusiastic positive efforts in practice, all for the target to help STUST Cheerleaders win various competitions and more glory.
