The Ministry of Education arranges visits to Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology by the President of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria
Dr. Gerald Reisinger, President of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, was invited to Taiwan by the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education of the Ministry of Education. University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria is the leading Austrian institution of higher learning, which is different from the traditional scientific research universities in that it offers courses designed for practical application and highly flexible curriculum to meet the needs of businesses. Its graduates hold great advantages in jobs. The university is the leader in R & D of all the professional institutions of higher learning in Austria, particularly in terms of student practical courses, internships and industry-academia cooperation, student entrepreneurship-oriented outstanding performance. Therefore, the Ministry of Education particularly arranged for the president to visit Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, a leader in technical and vocational education in Taiwan with outstanding achievements in its industry-academia cooperation, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship of the trilogy of creativity, hoping that the the two universities can opportunities for exchange.

University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria is a sister school of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. In June 2016, the two universities signed academic exchange and exchange student contracts. The visit was hosted by President Chien Tai, who position STUST as the best partner of industries and aimed to nurture the talents needed for industries through its principles and approaches that encourage the development of industry through self-orientation and multi-faceted pragmatism. In order to strengthen the link between industry and academia, the two universities attach great importance to R & D and practical teaching and encourages students to start their own businesses. Thanks to the arrangements of the Ministry of Education, the two universities exchanged their views and discussed the direction of their future cooperation. It is expected to promote the exchange of internships and teachers and students, so as to expand the substantial cooperation and create a win-win situation for both.

After the talks, President Tai and President Gerald Reisinger visited the Museum of Ancient Machinery, which is the only one of this kind in Taiwan. It is also the only exhibition and research center for ancient mechanical science education in Taiwan. In addition to the ancient mechanical rehabilitation, it also focuses on inter-disciplinary development of digital media science education and the development of derivative research, performance, collection, recreation and other diversified ancient mechanical products, President Reisinger greatly appreciated this initiative and hoped that the two universities can work on this in their future cooperation.
