Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held a graduation ceremony for Xiamen Institute of Technology "3 + 1 Automotive Service Program." This session has a total of 42 students, attending courses related to mechanical design, vehicle maintenance, vehicle detection and diagnosis, and automotive theory. There was fusion of practice and theory to increase the color and impression of their learning. The event was held to showcase the achievements of academic exchanges and cooperation across the Strait. It was not only to enhance cross-strait student exchanges, but also to narrow the distance between each other and expand the horizons.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has worked with Xiamen Institute of Technology for the four year on the 3+1 sub-docking cooperation. Xiamen Institute of Technology has been very impressed by such cooperation and the growth of the program--two classes totaling 76 students. In the September of 2016, Professor Xin-Bo Zhang two classes of 76 students from Xiamen Polytechnic Institute to Taiwan, beginning their study at STUST and enjoying the local culture. One of the classes was entrusted by the Department of Automobile and Traffic Engineering of Xiamen University of Science and Technology. The courses include mechanical design, automobile structure, principle of automobile engine, automobile inspection and diagnosis, vehicle maintenance, etc. In addition to receiving formal school curriculum and technical skills training, students also had chances to learn from lecture by industrial managers, school visits, and cultural visits, and many other activities.

In their life experience, the students also took part in the "Three Days and Two Nights Tours in the North" organized by the Student Affairs Office of NTU. The students traveled throughout Taiwan, including Taichung, Taipei, Sun Moon Lake, the National Palace Museum, and many other popular attractions. They also accepted the invitation by "OPTION modified car news" to Pingpan Mirs Bay to watch "OTGP National Elite Cup Grand Prix," an international level racing competition. In addition to students’ visits, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology also held the 28th South Taiwan Auto Show, which attracts a large number of people every year and has become an annual event in Southern Taiwan. Chinese students could participate personally in such a rare occasion for their experience in Taiwan to add a lot of memories. This program provides a diverse range of learning options that enable Xiamen Polytechnic students to have a rich experience of professional learning and Taiwan's local culture.

President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that the Department of Advanced Mechanical Vehicles has excellent teachers working hard to improve vehicle teaching equipment and various types of vehicle laboratories, professional maintenance factory teaching environment advantages. They can make students from afar can fully learn modern vehicle maintenance, testing technology, and many other technical skills; they can ultimately master the use of automotive technology and employ their professional disciplines and theoretical knowledge. The advanced vehicle group has always been the focus of the development of STUST. For instance, the development of Formula One racing is currently the only Taiwan, more active participation in many international competitions. Through the exchange of classes, students can expect to learn from the course of study and the interaction with industry to strengthen their ability of communication. We hope that the students will expand their international perspective and enhance their competitiveness.
