The work "Scarf detection equipment and system with automatic identification of scalp status" of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, directed by Prof. Wan-Rong Chang and Prof. Da-Hui Li was greatly favored by the judges, who agreed that the work has an integral planning of hardware and software, comes with commercial value, and should win the first prize in Healthcare Hardware Application Group. The work was also given access to international competitions. The Scalp detection system can automatically identify scalp state and systemize the results in a combination of relevant back-end information platform to do scalp management and provide consumers with innovative services. It is expected to select a shop as an operational demonstration point for the actual scalp detection system and services to work. After a trial operation period of three months of to complete the scalp test and innovative care and maintenance services for 200 times, the system will be promoted into the market.

The results of this competition showed Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology as the biggest winner, winning the first in 2 groups, the second in 3 groups, and the third in 3 groups. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the first in both "Software and Embedded Platform Application Group" and “Healthcare Hardware Application Group." National Yunlin University of Science and Technology won the first in "Renesas Digital Signal Processor Application Group"; National Qin Yi University of Technology won the first in "Microchip Digital Signal Processor Application Group"; Longhua University of Science and Technology won the first in "Green Energy and Control Application Group." As for prize money, the first prize was given NT$ 40,000; the second prize, NT$ 20,000; the third prize, NT$ 10,000. The top three prizes, along with a number of other great works, were also given medals and awards.
