Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology established its Aboriginal Student Resource Center to provide aboriginal students with an all-in-one service,
gathering together their affections and creating a sense of belongingness.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology established its Aboriginal Student Resource Center and held an unveiling ceremony on the 13th of March, prepared to provide an all-in-one service for aboriginal students, gather together their love and affections for each other, and create in them a sense of belongingness to the school community. The unveiling ceremony invited important officials from the government and city councilmen, led by Director Wen-Ling Wang of the General Planning Division, the Ministry of Education and Vice President Lu of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. In addition to the dance performances of the aboriginal students, the venue also offered DIY places for participants to experience the craftsmanship of the aboriginal art and food stands for them to enjoy a feast of aboriginal food. It was estimated that nearly 500 teachers and students came to participate in the grand opening. As a new home to the aboriginal students, the center carries great educational implications and will help enhance the promotion of aboriginal cultures.

The center includes a self-study area and a friendship area, managed by aboriginal students. Both the hallway decoration and interior painting were completed by aboriginal students, showing the original customs and their cultural characteristics. Moreover, the school helped them establish a student club to promote aboriginal cultures and their ways of living, attempting to integrate different ethnic groups and promote aboriginal cultures.

Vice president Lu said that STUST has made great efforts in the promotion of aboriginal cultures, devotedly putting in diversified resources and actively counseling students to develop their own characteristics. In addition to the courses that General Knowledge Center opens about Taiwan aboriginal cultures, STUST has been promoting educational renovation related to aboriginal cultures through the Aboriginal Technical and Vocational Education Improvement and Development Plan, sponsored by the Ministry of Education. With the support from Tainan Municipal Government, Labor Development Agency of the Labor Department, Yongkang District Employment Center, STUST is also committed to creating job opportunities for aboriginal students. It is hoped that the establishment of the Aboriginal Resource Center can help fortify the integration of internal and external resources, bring heartfelt support to aboriginal students, and develop outstanding aboriginal talent.

Yang-Chi Wang, Director of Academic Officer of STUST, said that the center is based on a task-based group meant to create a favorable integration and coordination of primary student resources that provides more comprehensive care assist the indigenous community with counseling, so that students take a step forward to gather together with their affections for each. In addition to studies on and visits to aboriginal tribes, the center also focuses on a variety of aboriginal technology, food production, folk songs, and many other learning activities, which shall create for all students the opportunity to touch and feel the diversity and meaning of indigenous cultures.
