Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held the 2017 Pacific Enterprise Forum to explore the opportunities and challenges of the “New Southbound Policy” under the international political and economic trends
The International Business Department of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held the 2017 Pacific Business Forum to discuss the theme "Opportunities and Challenges for New Southbound Policy" under the trend of international politics and economics. The event was co-organized by Chinese Taipei Pacific Economic Cooperation Committee (CTPECC), Tainan City SME Honorary Instructor Association, Taiwan Economic Research Institute, and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, with more than 200 participants from industry and academia totaling. The forum focused on the recent international political and economic development trends, analyzed the challenges and opportunities faced by Chinese manufacturers, and responded to the government's new southbound policy, which shows the business opportunities in Southeast Asian countries. This forum would help the community grasp the thinking of the new government's economic development; it would also enhance the link between Taiwan and the global community, creating a new era for our future.

The keynote speech by Direct De-Ming Sun of the Outlook Center of Taiwan Economic Research Institute offered all the details about the current international economic and trade development. With all the economic statistics, Direct Sun led all the participants to a better understanding Taiwan's economic situation in the international community. Sun also pointed out the challenges and threats against Taiwan's economic development and provided advice and suggestions to the government and industries to enhance Taiwan's economic performance.

Secretary General Da-Sung Chiu of CTPECC and Assistant Researcher Jing-Yi Tsai of Taiwan Economic Research Institute analyzed the current international political and economic situation and New Southbound Policy, respectively.
