The whole world anchors its focus on Southern Taiwan: The 12th International Art
and Culture Festival in Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology

The 2017 International Art and Culture Festival was launched on 17th of May. A total of 250International students were invited from such countries as Canada, Malaysia, Peru, Haiti, India, Mongolia, Vietnam, Austria, Malaysia, Iraq, Kingdom of Swaziland, Thailand, Turkey, Japan and China. They came in 13 groups to participate in stage performances, showing different customs of their countries. There was also an activity called "Photo with Taiwan Monkey to win a banana" to create a happy atmosphere and help international students learn more about particular animals and sweet fruit in Taiwan.

International Cultural Festival activities included Colombian folk dance--Cumbia and Mapale, Mongolian songs in Ulaanbaatar, Vietnamese veil and fan dance and Popping dance, famous French songs called “Alexandrie Alexandra,” Indonesian traditional dance--Tyouth Dance, DJ from Haiti playing music, Islamic student club (Indian, Iraq, Egypt) singing the Arabic song—“Be Yourself”, and Peruvian and Indonesian students singing “Beauty and Beasts,” and many other performances. This was one of the few International Arts and Culture Festival where there was transnational cooperation. All the international students showed their special ability and their different cultures, making the audience feel greatly surprised and winning their warm applause.

There were 16 exotic food stalls in the festival, each showing its cultural style in the layout. Different aroma overflew from all kinds of food and colorful drinks, making the festival packed with people and the crowd anticipating for food. Such a multi-cultural integration, with both the feast and cultural performances, allowed the participants of different nationalities to appreciate each other, enjoy unique folk customs and performances, and taste exotic dishes. The festival added a lot of tastes to their college lives in Taiwan.

President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that STUST will always welcome international students to participate in the International Arts and Culture Festival, bringing them joy and rich exotic activities and helping them mingle with Taiwan students and international students, so as to further understand each other. These interactions can promote mutual recognition in terms of culture and customs, making students learn to respect each other, expand their international outlook and world view, and understand see the heart and vitality of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology in promoting international cultures.
