Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 2017
Student Practicum Project Competition of Universities of Science and Technology Nationwide: three works stood out with their dazzling brilliance.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology participated in the 2017 Student Practicum Project Competition of Universities of Science and Technology Nationwide held by the Ministry of Education. A total of 70 entries were reviewed by dozens of experts and scholars on the various groups of works, with 8 pieces of selected works with their dazzling performance. The results of the competition showed that the work "Hinder your Hinder" by STUST won the second prize in the Animation and Interactive Multimedia Group. "Gradually Fit Smart Gradual Stockings" was awarded the third in the Business Group, and "Scalp automatic identification and scalp detection System" obtained the Excellence Award in the Information Engineering Group.

The work "Hinder your Hinder" won the second prize in the Animation and Interactive Multimedia Group was created by the animation group of the Department of Visual Communication and Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The film is a love comedy of 3D animation, a synthesis of 2D hand-painted light map, Toon cartoon rendering, and 2D special effect production. It broke off from common 3D animation materials while making viewers immersed in the story through its rich brush and color conversion. Through the feelings between men and women, it cast a grand metaphor on life as a full set of challenges and problems to people.

According to Prof. Chun-Hong Liu, the six studentsencountered substantial revision of the scriptfor many times during the production process, but they still held on to the process and was very consistent with their intention and their own ability to solve various problems.The winning students expressed their considerable appreciation for the resources provided by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, such as space, the production of special funds, and advice from teachers in order to help them stand out in the competition.

The work "Gradually Fit Smart Gradual Stockings" by the Department of Industrial Management and Information, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was awarded the third in the Business Group. The target customers are the high risk group with varicose veins and women in three key stages of their lives. It is hoped that the innovative product "Gradually Fit Smart Gradual Stockings" can effectively reduce the trouble caused by varicose veins and even prevent it from happening.

In addition, the work "Gradually Fit Smart Gradual Stockings" was directed by both Prof. Wan-Rong Chang and Prof. Wei-fen Hu of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The team developed the world's only depth-based learning technology about portable wireless scalp status detector and its automatic identification and diagnosis system, named ISDS (Intelligent Scalp Detection System). The use of learning technology can help users to continuously learn to improve the identification accuracy, and thus reduce the use of the system scalp, the personnel cost of the care-related industry, and the error of the artificial identification. In addition to the professional scalp care shop, the general family can also be in their own detection of scalp state. The system will work on the scalp status identification and offer file sharing to the co-operation of the hairdresser or skin clinic, so that the industry can immediately provide users with home scalp care. Consultation or appointment of scalp care-related professional physicians can offer professional scalp care treatment to solve the modern people because there is no time to do scalp examination, and make up for the lack of care of the scalp, and solve the scalp care related to the cause of the high cost of personnel and customer trust.
