The Cheerleading club of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won
the second prize in the National College Cheerleading Championship

The Cheerleading club of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the second prize in the National College Cheerleading Championship, organized by the RICH Sports Association and held in Shinzhuang, New Taipei City. The team won the second prize in "General Mixed Group." In the contest, the team made their best efforts all the way with their best performance. It was certainly not easy.

A total of 91 teams from 47 colleges and universities participated in the 2016 National College Cheerleading Championship. The participating teams in this tournament were graded in accordance with the correctness and synchronicity of their performances in their implementations of the specified action and moves. The scoring criteria for the complete grading included sideline, cheer, dance, skills, and the overall performance, sound, expression, formation. A total of 343 groups nationwide registered with all the different groups of competition. As a result, the Cheerleading club of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the second prize in in "General Mixed Group" of the National College Cheerleading Championship.

Wei-Ming Chen, Captain of the cheerleader team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, showed particular thanks to the school's support as well as to Coach Meng-Shuan Chou and Tang-Hao Cao. He also expressed his gratitude to the graduating seniors for their guidance in practice. All the players have fought against all odds for six months in the intensive training. Determined to win the championship, they wore short-sleeved sportswear while practicing the action and moves until late at night, even in winter. Their positive spirits and great efforts are remarkable and admirable. Despite the hardship of taking the two-o'clock bus from Tainan to Shinzhuang Stadium in Taipei, the team fully showed the enthusiasm of southern Taiwan during the performance. With their thunder-roaring slogans, uniformed arm movements, stable techniques, self-confident smiles, they greatly impressed both the audience and judges. These are key to their winning of glory for the school glory.

In 2003 STUST cheerleaders began to participate in the tournament organized by College Sports Association of the Republic of China. Despite the hardships during the initial period, it has been growing with all the efforts of senior students in the club and all the talented follow-ups. It is worth mentioning that graduated seniors have never stopped their love for cheerleading activities. Thanks to the positive efforts of coaches and everyone’s passions, STUST Cheerleading Club have been able to win in various competitions. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has won more than 20 trophies for their victory. It is firmly believed that the future will see their better performance and greater results.
