Design and Application Contest of Intelligent Networking Robot, offering a total purse of prize money up to NT$ 460,000 and NT$ 180,000 for the champion.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology Southern Science and Industry Park will jointly hold the 2017 Innovative Design and Application Contest of Intelligent Networking Robot in November 3 to 4 this year in the Model Space of South Branch Administration (17, 2F, South Branch Road, Tainan City, South City), Science and Technology Southern Science Industrial Park.

The market size of the world's smart robots is expected to grow from $ 12.2 billion in 2011 to $ 33.6 billion by 2021. In order to effectively integrate all the resources of the South Taiwan Industrial park and gather all the strength of the different industries in the Industrial Park, the innovation competition has set its target on inspiring more ideas on robot designing, thus promoting industry-university cooperation, technological innovation, and personnel training purposes.

The competition has a total purse of prize money up to NT$ 460,000 and a NT$ 180,000 for the champion. The finalists will be ranked according to their technical innovation, the function display, the application, and the market value. TED Talk group will be responsible for overall performance assessment, while Wanrun Technology Co., Ltd. and Lianrun Technology Co., Ltd will be sponsors for corporate special award for creativity. The contest registration will last from June 12, 2017 to August 12, 2017. Students from college and universities (including graduate students) are welcome participate in the competition in groups. The 2017 Innovative Design and Application Contest of Intelligent Networking Robot placed its primary concern on intelligent robot design and its application in combination with artificial intelligence and IoT related technology, hoping to enhance the future of Taiwan's robot industry in terms of innovation and competitiveness and to promote students’ contact with the industry. Through the competition, students would be encouraged to conduct cross-domain cooperation. By introducing the robot design creativity, the competition has been able to outline the robot application scenarios and plan a business model for the future of the robot industry. It also provides the industry opportunities to explore for talented people and to continue innovation for development. It is expected that the competition can fortify the interaction between the academic and the industrial, by which opportunities for the development for South Taiwan Industrial Park in robot industry can build up elements for innovation of the robot industry and bring in new vitality.
