Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology recently held talks for around more than 200 parents of freshman students to participate, hoping that, through exchanges and dialogues between the school and parents, parents can understand the school and its units in terms of their service, performance and development direction. It would create opportunities for school to listen to parents’ suggestions, plan a better campus, and build up good relations between teachers and parents.

President Tai Chien of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that parents’ enthusiasm and participation could help improve the quality of the school. He asked parents to be partners to create vision in education together, take practical action to participate in school education, and make commitment to education, so that more resources, with the active participation of parents, can flow into education activities, thereby enhancing the quality of the school and creating an all-winning situation for the school, the students, the parents, and the society as a whole.

The talks between teachers and parents was divided into two phases. The first was a report about what the school work includes and how the school is linked to world. It was a face-to-face communication for parents and teachers. At the same time, parents also share their ideas and put forward constructive issues, fully showing their concern with their children and their studies in the campus environment and affirming the school’s excellent performance in education.

In the second phase, parents were led to visit the departments where their children would attend—a more detailed and in-depth understanding of their children's school development and future prospects. Parents who participated in the phase would have an in-depth understanding of the school's food, dorms, and curriculum, internship, examinations and specialties. Parents were very satisfied with the school's meticulous and intimate arrangements. In the end they all expressed their willingness to participate in similar activities again. They hoped that the school would continue the campus atmosphere between teachers and students.
