Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Headquarter, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was elected the Incubation Center of 2017 by the SME Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, following its winning of the National Innovation Center Award last year. This award added to the contribution and achievement of STUST Incubation Center over the past two decades in providing start-up enterprises and small and medium businesses with a sound counseling mechanism and incubation with international capacity.

Under the guidance of the SMEs Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Incubation Center of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was established on July 1, 1997. Over the past two decades, it has made great contribution to the establishments of 206 small and medium enterprises, including 4 listed companies, 7 derivative enterprises, 99 startups, and 70 young entrepreneurs. Over the latest three years, with its counseling and business nurturing, the center has obtained a total of NT$ 34.96 million from government subsidy plans. The total revenue of the companies it supports has exceeded NT$ 0.69 billion, with a total investment of NT$ 0.56 billion. The center has indeed become one of the best incubation center run by private universities in Taiwan.

As President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said, ever since January 1, 2017, when it officially took over the operation of the Incubation Center of the South Branch SME Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has integrated the resources of the two major incubation centers at STUST and in the science park. With its leap-hop springboard counseling cooperation model, STUST has successfully linked together all the resources from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Temasek Institute of Technology, sustained by its cooperation with the international entrepreneurial accelerator AIRmaker. Together with the expected launch of the "New Sugarcane Field" venture capital forum in November, 2017, it is believed that there will be many new activities at home and abroad pooled together to accelerate the development of small and medium enterprises, the appearances of new teams for overseas markets, and the mutual cooperation of industries to accelerate the integration of various services.

In addition to the introduction of its fine cultivation system and the new South market package planning, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubation Headquarter, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has made its business cooperation in Singapore able to achieve a two-way new team investment, business cooperation, floor counseling services as well as local services, so that domestic and foreign startup companies can be more easily established through the assistance of South Taiwan University of Science and Technology, either in Taiwan or the countries related to the development of the new southbound policy. Moreover, through "2018 War-States National Startup Competition"—transformation of the innovation and of education industry competition that it has organized and hosted for the 12 years, STUST is now expanding the organizational system for screening, in line with market demand for teams to enhance their capacities in the international market and by angelic funding opportunities, This will then enhance the domestic industry and increase their willingness to develop overseas, bringing their teams and entrepreneurial resources around the global for a rapid development of international market access and an increase in development of space and opportunities overseas.
