President Chien Tai of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, who had been appointed President of CPC Corporation, delivered his stamp to Executive Vice President Deng Maw Lu under the supervision of Chairman Hsin-Hsiong Chang, which signified that Lu would take lead of STUST as the university keeps moving forward. Lu has served at STUST for 33 years. From a lecturer to a vice president, he has a great profile with rich experience. As he has been working to promote important work for the university, he can be seamlessly integrated the top level of the administrative system, ready to burnish the golden signboard of STUST and add to it greater radiance.

Deng-Maw Lu had his Ph.D. from the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, National Cheng Kung University. In 1985, he came to take the teaching post at STUST; ever since, he has worked in different positions, from mechanical engineering lecturer, associate professor, full professor, Chairman of Mechanical Engineering Department, Director of the Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Technology, Director of Nanotechnology Center, Dean of Engineering College, Vice President of Academic Affairs, to Executive Vice President. In terms of familiarity with school affairs, he is second to no one.

Acting President Lu said that Southern Taiwan University has possessed excellent strength in both hardware and software, with great equipment and excellent teachers. It is certainly a good place to cultivate professionals, to implement full employment plan for future graduates, and to start a business right in the campus. However, students also need to take the initiative and learn to be more effective. In order to create a dynamic learning place for students, he would begin the project to have all the classrooms repainted in the near future. The project will be held by the faculties and students of the College of Digital Design, with the purpose of refreshing the visual perception of students, so that students should be learning happily.

As Acting President Deng-Maw said, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has to bring its students to out to the world, actively introduce them to the industry, comprehensively improve the quality of teaching, and enhance its strength in multifaceted development, with focus on smart machinery, national defense industry, biotech and medical industry, green energy technology, digital economy, semiconductors, culture and technology, circular economy, and AI technology. Key core technologies of production and learning should also be established. Moreover, STUST should be able to provide industries with interdisciplinary integration of resources and services, help SMEs in these aspects, and make good use of them to acquire additional value.

Acting President Lu also pointed out that the Incubation Center in Southern Taiwan Science Park and Tainan Cultural Park, " adjacent to the Tainan Railway Station, are good platforms for its orientation of combining industry and market. Taking the incubation center as an example, STUST has cooperated with well-known domestic and foreign venture companies, accelerators, and creative institutions, forming several international cooperation coalitions. Through joint and concerted efforts, we are stepping out of the local framework and helping our SMEs, supporting start-up teams, and gaining other access to financial and business opportunities so as to accelerate the expansion of overseas markets.

Since its founding back in 47 years ago, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has upheld the school motto of "Righteousness and Honesty" and has cultivated talents with great efforts. As it continues to move toward top-a notch technical university, STUST still remember its mission "to benefit the community and help build up the nation." In addition, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has won a lot of acclaim and honor as well as recognition and reputation, including a total of NT$ 813.81 million for implementing the Teaching Excellence Project from the Ministry of Education from 1995 to 1996 and a total of NT$ 522 million from 101 to 106 years for implementing the Program of Development Model Science and Technology by Ministry of Education. Over the eight consecutive years from 98 to 105, Cheers magazine announced that Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won the first prize of the favorite private universities for industries.
