Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held the 2017 Campus Entrepreneurship Competition, with 15 teams out a total of 40 teams entering the final and 200 students participating in the competition. Focused on industry demand, STUST invited A-Line Radio and Productivity Development Co., Ltd. to assign topics that inspired students to come up with innovative solutions. The competition aimed at shortening students’ learning and offered up high quality team venture capital fund. Since 2015, STUST has offered students as much as NT$ 960,000 as their venture funds, helping a total of 20 venture teams realize their business ideas. In Campus Group, the "Wisdom Magnetic Filtration System", a project directed by Prof. Hsin-Chi Tsang of Mechanical Engineering Department and Prof. Chong-Yueh Tsai of the Department of Business and Administration, won the champion; the work “Little Big Man,” directed by Prof. You-De Lu of the Department of Information and Communication, won the title of Business Group.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been working on creating a campus environment for high-quality entrepreneurial and promoting students’ employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for development, with great resources and counseling mechanisms to provide one-stop service, creativity education, and IQ Space. All these facilitate its cultivation of entrepreneurial teams. With its three major nurturing home bases—STUST Innovation Center, STUST Innovation Center of Creative Arts, and the Innovation Center in South Taiwan Science Park, the university has great capacity in counseling new ventures. In combination with the Tainan Creative Industries Park, it can offer students access to the development of cultural industries in Tainan. This perfect system has worked to link STUST with local resources, creating new world-class domestic industry training and counseling environment and revitalizing the entrepreneurial ecological environment in South Taiwan.

With the aim to commercialize creative products, STUST has created an investment of NT$ 450,000 in terms of its academia-industrial cooperation in the first months of 2016. In combination with the “Maker” of Creative Design Square," STUST has completed a great number of prototype developments. Since 2015, 200 cases have been finished, winning as many as 45 prizes and awards both home and abroad. High-quality teams can apply for venture capitals. Ever since 2015, STUST has offered students NT$ 960,000 as venture fund for a total of 20 venture teams to achieve their business ideas. Potential teams are invited into IQ Space as well as the training in its counseling mechanisms. With all these, students can graduate with businesses of their own!

【IQ Space Venture Team: "Young Yang Creative Design Team】
IQ Space is a co-working space that provides students with pre-forma counseling and cross-campus resources to help these young entrepreneurs prepare for the formal establishment of their companies. Since its establishment in the fourth quarter of 2003, IQ Space has devoted itself to create and integrate resources throughout the university. So far, teachers and students at STUST have established 13 companies, creating a great entrepreneurial atmosphere in the campus and cross-campus cooperation for young entrepreneurship. Related business counseling and resources have been shared with teams from other universities.

【IQ Space Entrepreneurship Team: "Combateam" Team】
This year, a lot of in-house teams of IQ Space's participated in the 2017 Annual Graduation Program for Entrepreneurship and Services organized by the Youth Development Department of the Ministry of Education to show their fruitful results. Out of 315 teams, a total of six startup teams of IQ Space received the first-phase grant and the startup bonus of NT$ 3,000,000, which was the highest amount in the country. Through the practice of micro-program, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has in recent years already made its entrepreneurship competition take root in the campus.

As Acting President Deng-Maw Lu said, in order to help booster commercialization and technology transfer of R & D achievements and encourage teachers to promote derivative enterprises, 4 startup team established by teachers and students donated 10% of their technical shares, becoming a derivative enterprise of STUST. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has actively assisted alumni, teachers, and students for their career development. It has also motivated teams in IQ Space to become future school-derived enterprises.
