Taekwondo Club of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology recently participated in the 2017 National Taekwondo Martial Arts Festival, held in HungKuang University of Science and Technology. The team made a record high of winning medals over the past years. The National Taekwondo Martial Arts Festival aims to promote Taekwondo and student sports, enhance the friendship among schools through competitions, and promote exchanges among students clubs. The competitions for individual matches and group points are all based on the Olympic Games. There were a total of 50 universities and more than 500 contestants participating in the festival. Results of the competitions for Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology in the individual, double and athletic groups, showed its winning a total of six gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal, setting a record of brilliant success.

Tao-Yuan Huang, Leader of the Taekwondo Club of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that the competition was excellent and all the contestants showed their strength in practice. She hoped that next time they could continue their efforts toward the college cup. Hsin-Chang Wu, Director of the Taekwondo Club, said that he saw the efforts of the players and the cheering of other players on the sidelines and deeply felt the importance of sportsmanship and solidarity and cooperation among the athletes. Before the competition, the president gave encouragement to the players and inspired everyone's confidence, bringing them the strength to beat strong opponents and had dazzling results.
