However, the Department of Popular Music Industry has turned itself into an mentoring system in offering classes,, which could happen only in the past. With original, independent music flourishing, the Department of Popular Music Industry, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has formed a strong team of teachers to fully train its students into a new generation of stars and music workers!

Department of Popular Music Industry, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, is the first department in the nation to cultivate talents in the popular music industry. Following the training model of the international pop music institutes, students are encouraged to integrate local cultural characteristics into music creation, performance, video technology and stage production. The international pop culture is in line with the goal of developing popular music with Chinese cultural characteristics as its backdrop. The curriculum covers the four areas of expertise required by the entire popular music industry, including creative performances, performing arts, post-recording, stage lighting and sound. Tens of million dollars have been invested to create a professional teaching space, the purchase of the most advanced teaching equipment, including rehearsal halls, practice rooms, individual practice rooms, studios, digital music classrooms, stage production studios; music equipment, musical instruments, recording equipment , active stages, stage lighting and sound devices, etc., to cultivate students' professional ability. In combination with the resources of the popular music and film centers in the Tainan Cultural and Creative Industrial Park, training programs on concert performances and stage productions are provided to enable students to receive complete training in the popular music industry.

In addition, in order to strengthen the concept of "graduation means employment," these newly appointed teachers, in addition to the full-time teachers, give lectures personally. Since its establishment, the department has won wide attention from students. No matter applying for enrollment, selecting candidates, or joining forces, enthusiastic responses to enrollment have always brought registration and distribution to its full play. In 2018, the department will increase its enrollment to 90 students.
