  Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won "Best School of the Year Award" for four consecutive years in the 2018 Digital Broadcasting Grand Awards, once again showing its charm in unique design.    2018/5/21    

 

The 2018 Digital Broadcasting Grand Awards Competition, co-sponsored by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Education, and Kaohsiung City Government, held its award ceremony on May 18, at the Sea View Conference Hall on the third floor of Kaohsiung Exhibition Hall. Among the many outstanding entries, the College of Digital Design of Southern Taiwan University of Technology once again demonstrated its strength, winning a lot of awards in creative planning, mobile game creation, and 3D animation creation. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has won the highest honor for four consecutive years since 2015. The Best School of the Year Award shows the solid fundamentals in teaching and training of the College of Digital Design of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. It has unique charm and strength in the field of digital content and multimedia design.

The 2018 Digital Broadcasting Grand Award aimed to focus on the digital content of the industry, building up connections between the industry and talented people by competitions, exhibitions, international exchanges, and many other activities. In 2018, resources from the government, the industry, and the academia were gathered and integrated together, with more than 100 CEOs participating in the activity. More than 60,000 students gathered in Kaohsiung to create the largest contest in digital content in the south. It was also one of the most influential digital content and interactive technologies in Taiwan.

The 2018 Grand Award brought together more than 1,500 works from 89 universities and colleges across Taiwan, jointly established by a number of flagship manufacturers to create the largest platform for exhibitions and competitions of somatosensory technology. The Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, achieved great results in this competition. "PrankElf" won the gold award for creative design. "City in Fear of Light" and "Hair Is Burning" also won the recognition of creative planning and design. "Hair Is Burning" won the International Award for Competition - the Creative Design Award. "City in Fear of Light" won the silver medal of Action Game Creation Category, while the work "Still Water" won an excellence award in Action Game Creation Category. "Hair Is Burning" and "Idis" won the special prize of Shin Shong Corporation Special Award. The bronze medal of 3D Animation Creation Category was given to the Department of Information Communication—"The Wish of Mice."

STUST have won the “Best School of the Year Award” for four consecutive years, demonstrating that the principle of multiple adaptability and the pragmatic and practical education of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology can definitely help students to be seamlessly integrate with the industry. He also thanked the advisors and students for their hard work. He also hoped that when the industry needs talented people, students of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology can be immediately considered. He-Tian Yeh, Dean of the College of Digital Design presented the awards and said that it was not easy to win the "Best School of the Year Award" for four consecutive years. This achievement was the result of the efforts of teachers and students in the school. Dean Yeh also encouraged students to continue their participation in various competitions. In addition to accumulating experience, they can also let people see their creativity. Hua-Cheng Chang, Chairman of the Department of Multimedia and Computer Entertainment Science, was very pleased with the achievements students had made this time. He also hoped that students would be proud of their efforts and achievements in the future when they think of the awards.

The 4-Department Joint Achievement Exhibition of the College of Digital Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was displayed in Taipei Next Generation Design Exhibition from May 25 to May 28. This year 23 works were included in the New Generation of Golden Pin Design Award. Dean He of the College of Digital Design hoped that students of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology could continue to have a brilliant performance in Taipei New Generation Design Exhibition.
