The 2018 A+ Creative Festival, held by the Cultural Assets Bureau of the Ministry of Culture, saw its award ceremony on May 22 at the Taichung Cultural and Creative Industrial Park. From as many as 53 departments of 24 universities, 1,374 works were exhibited this year, setting a new record high over the recent years. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology was the biggest winner this year, winning six awards in total. The work “Chase it!” by the Department of Innovative Product Design department, which uses radar to sense and track birds while emit laser light to drive them forward, not only helps elderly farmers solve the bird problems in their rice fields, but also increase their work efficiency. This work won the biggest award in the 2018 A+ Creative Festival. The "A+ Creative Festival Award" was awarded with a bonus of NT$ 160,000 dollars. In addition, their works "Whisper grassland" and "Folding" were also awarded gold medals in Industrial Design Category and Fashion Design Category, respectively.

According to Dean He-Tian Yeh of the College of Digital Design, this year students’ graduation projects have achieved brilliant results. In addition to the pragmatic education of the school and the infinite creativity of students, students started with humanistic concerns, showed these concerns in their creativity, and then produced their works to solve problems in life. This is the key to winning the contest. He expected students to continue breaking through themselves, showing their creativity, and confronting the challenges in the future. For example, the work "CLEair Traffic Police Air Filter Tanker" can help traffic police solve the problem of being exposed to the outdoor environment for a long time and the problem of being unable to wear a mask because of their professional image. This design not only makes policemen wear comfort but also reduces the risk of potential occupational injury caused by air pollution. The work "Two Days" adopts the empty Air Force's Second Village as its theme, re-planning and designing the Treehouse and Xincun Heritage Museum. It not only retains the original tree house and heritage museum, but also makes effective use of the space. These two works were given special awards by Chinese Productivity Center (CPC) and Birch Image Design Co., Ltd, respectively.
