Youth Development Administration, the Ministry of Education, recently held a conference for the career counseling of the colleges and universities nationwide, where their achievements in 2018 were exhibited. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has a comprehensive job counseling system and diverse activities. With its innovative career counseling practice standing out among nearly 100 colleges and universities, it won the bronze medal of the Excellent College Group.

The highlight was the lectures of "Master's Road" series and "Wishes and Stickers" created by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. "Master's Road" invites experts to have lectures for students, such as Former National Policy Consultant Jia-Tung Li, Brother Banana from YOYO TV, and Youtuber HowHow, By have such experts of different generations to share their successful career experience with students, the series helps students learn how to survive their workplaces in the future, effectively expanding their vision for the future. "Wishes and Stickers" is an activity where students choose the lecturer for themselves. After a careful assessment, Career Development and Alumni Center will invite the lecturer to school and hold activities for the participants to increase their motivation to listen to the lectures. Nearly 80% of the participating students came to the career counseling activities for the first time.

In order to cultivate students' employment strength and achieve the goal that graduation means being employed and ready to work. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology established Career Development and Alumni Center in 2010, in charge of students’ career development, employment counseling, and alumni services, serving all the teachers, students, and the vast multitude of alumni.

Ding-Hong Chen, Director of Career Development and Alumni Center of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that the career counseling at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been consistently planned for four years. Since the first year of enrollment, students have begun to receive counseling from employment to employment. Vocational interest exploration, sophomore internship preparation, junior internship, senior employment, and post-graduation and alumni resources are combined with employment opportunities. Different counseling focuses are given to students of different grade.

Off-campus internship is a key counseling program. In addition to combining industry-university cooperation and alumni resources to provide students with multiple quality internship opportunities, STUST also cooperates with Taiwanese companies in Southeast Asia to expand overseas internships, in order to respond to the government's New Southbound Policy. Moreover, to grasp the effectiveness of internship, the employment situation of graduates, and the satisfaction of employers, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has established a regular tracking mechanism to check the effectiveness of talent cultivation and form a continuous feedback improvement, so as to ensure that talents are trained to meet the needs of the industry.

Aside from the rigorous and perfect domestic internship system, overseas internships are also very eye-catching, not only with Ibusuki Natural Sand Bath Center in Japan (a top 10 hotel in Japan), but also with Singapore Changi International Airport (the world's sixth largest international airport). There have been nearly 300 internships in Japan and Singapore over the past three years. In line with the New Southbound Policy, STUST has opened overseas internship training courses for Southeast Asian countries. Through rigorous courses on culture and language, STUST offers students professional training and internship opportunities in Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and other places. Internship companies include NIKE (the world's second largest footwear industry) and other international companies, fully demonstrating itself as the best university for industry-university cooperation.
