Along with Prof. Bo-Ming Li, Prof. Zhong-Chun Wu from the Department of Mechanic Engineering won the National Super College Teacher Group in 104, and Prof. Yu-Chun Du from the Department of Electronic Department won the SUPER College Teacher Award in 106. All these have showed the importance of teaching to Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Prof. Bo-Ming is very dedicated to teaching and cares very much about students' achievement. His philosophy of teaching is to teach students by the way he acts, leading students through various practices. In order to encourage students to obtain an international certificate of engineer, he would first obtain the license by himself, acquire the qualification of being both the lecturer and the invigilator, and bring the resources of the related industry to the campus. Prof. Li even allowed his students to dismantle his own car, so as to let students learn the related electronic principles, His dedication and efforts have won not only the respect of his students but also the praises from his colleagues.
As Prof. Li stated in his speech, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has received more than NT$ 170 million for the Sprout Program of Higher Education. STUST is not only the first private university of science and technology, but has also outdistanced a lot of national universities. The Sprout Program of Higher Education has brought teachers more teaching resources and enabled students to obtain a better learning environment. The educational philosophy of STUST–Spending on students what have been taking from them”—was realized this way. It is true that the performance of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been affirmed by the Ministry of Education and all its students. It is hoped that all these efforts can set up an example for other universities to follow and that more schools and students can benefit from it.
