  Department of International Business, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won the championship of the 2018 National University (5th) Creative Marketing Planning Competition    2018/11/8    

 

Ume—a student team from the Department of International Business, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology--recently participated in the 2018 National University (5th) Creative Marketing Planning Competition, organized by China University of Science and Technology, winning the championship of the Creative Marketing Group. The competition was attended by more than 100 teams from colleges and universities across the country. The competition was divided into two groups: Creative Marketing Group and Innovative Entrepreneurship Group. The 10 teams that won the special awards in the preliminary contest entered the finals, and the competition was fierce. Ume was jointly guided by Prof. Wei-Zhen Yang, Chair of the Department of International Business, and Prof. Jia-Jun Lin of the Department of Visual Communication Design. Not only did their plan receive a special award, their superior on-the-spot presentation performance and implementation in marketing practice also brought them the championship.

Ume is composed of students of the Department of International Business, including Hui-Ying Chen, Jia-Hui Jian, Yu-Yu Huang, Yi-Zhen Lin, Yan-Ling Liang, and Chung-Yu Chen. The main commodity of their creative marketing planning is based on "Plum Bottle"—a creative art work designed by Associate Professor Jia-Jun Lin of the Department of Visual Communication Design. The art work “Plum Bottle,” endowed with multi-functional creativity, has won several international awards, such as the Gold Medal of Kaohsiung International Invention and Design Exhibition, the Gold Medal of Thailand International Invention Exhibition, and the Malaysia Special Award. Ume’s marketing plan commercializes creative design, from designing products, finding manufacturers, selling to selling goods, to designing a complete commercialization process. Their plan presents a five-and-a-half-year marketing strategy and financial plan, together with a complete business module to win the championship.

According to Prof. Wei-Zhen Yang, Chair of the Department of International Business, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is committed to promoting innovation and creativity entrepreneurial activities and to encouraging students to participate in relevant competitions in and out of the campus. Every year STUST would hold annual the Ryan Cup Campus Creative Competition in Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. The "Three-fold Creativity Competition" aims to inspire students' creative power in entrepreneurial practical, seeking an ideal entrepreneurial model to foster students' concepts and abilities on the basis of entrepreneurship. This fact that Ume had such great performance and achievement in the 2018 National University and University Creative Marketing Planning Competition shows that the efforts of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology have begun to create good performance. It is hoped that we will continue to strive for better performance in the future.
