Agricultural Bureau of Tainan City Government recently organized the 2018 Domestic Beef Marketing Campaign—Beef Is Good Food for Me and You, held at the Taiwanese Capital University of Tainan, in order to promote domestic beef and agricultural products. In addition to delicious sirloin and sirloin soup, the event also featured the main activity "Beef Is Good; Come and Cook" Domestic Beef Creative Cuisine Competition, which is organized for school students to participate in. The audience could enjoy not only the food but also the beauty of the delicious food. At the same time, the audience could see the craftsmanship and creativity of the students.

After two hours of intense competition, the team from the Department of Hospitality Management at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, formed by senior student Shin-Shiang Chen, junior student Zhi-Chiang Wang, and sophomore student Wei-Cheng Wang and directed by Prof. Yong-Hui Hu won third place with their dishes based on domestic beef, the burdock planted in Tainan, and Tainan No. 16 Rice. The dishes, so creative and delicious as they were, were favored by the judges in the competition.

For this competition, Chair Mei-Lan Lin was an important promoter behind the scenes. Not only did she recommend Yong-Hui Hu to be the advisor of the team, she but also provided students with the resources to practice with for the competition. Moreover, she gave students all the assistance and encouragement at the appropriate time. The team's combination was meant for the continuation of heritage from elder students to younger ones.

Prof. Hu of the Department of Hospitality Management of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology said that participating in the competition allowed the students to be creative and show what they had learn at the school; at the same time, during the competition, the students’ on-the-spot responses were encouraged and their ability to cope with problems was well tested. Experience is the nourishment of students in the learning process. It is hoped that the future will see new strength brought into the catering industry.
