Following the 2018 Year of the Dog Shennong Street Lantern Festival Lantern Exhibition, which was jointly organized last year by Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Tainan City Cultural Association and which won great acclaim from the community, President Deng-Maw Lu once again led the school team, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, to "create and spread the cultural heritage." Teachers and students of the “Fucheng vs. Yuejin” USR project team grandly opened the 2019 Year of the Pig Shennong Street Lantern Festival Lantern Exhibition, fulfilling the promise they made in the Year of the Dog. Compared with the fact that only 10 households participating in the Year of the Dog, this year the enthusiasm aroused among the residents made it to 26 households, and the number of customized lanterns was as high as 150. This year, the new allies of the Tainan Cultural Assets Protection Association—located at 57, Shennong Street—participated in the exhibition. It was a display of the cultural heritage of Shennong Street, as a result of the long-term management of the General Education Center of Southern Taiwan University. It was the evidence that the social responsibility practice plan of the university was created in Tainan.

In response to the enthusiastic participation of the residents, the General Education Center of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology recruited 68 students in an unprecedented style. After meeting with the residents, the students started the self-learning course of lantern painting. Over more than a month of hard work, the students had discussed and designed the contents of the lantern through the Line group. The residents built a great friendship with the students, often staying up all night with them and jointly producing lanterns dedicated to the characteristics of Shennong Street, such as the “Radio of the Old Days”—the exclusive No. 68 Dongdong Second-Hand Department Store; the appearance of the pink-colored red-faced lantern—the No. 66 Yakult grandfather's house; the cute dinosaur image—the 73rd OH YEAH lantern. It made Shennong Street a surprise everywhere, and it was also a feature of the Year of the Pig Lantern Festival. Coupled with the ingenuity of the planning team, a large 160-centimeter-sized big pig lamp was set up at the Shennong Street, and No. 53 and No. 56 of Shennong Street was selected to be the lantern gallery for the show. The image of the entrance, between No. 51 and No. 53—the side lane of the Beishanggang site, there were also students who carefully drew the lanterns of the old Hong Kong Road. Indeed, the Year of the Pig at Shennong Street Lantern Festival was amazing and wonderful.
