College of Digital Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won 10 awards, including 3 bronze medals, in the Young Designer Exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Education and implemented by Taiwan Creative Design Center and Taiwan Good Design Association, which was held on the 5th of May at the World Trade Center Taipei.

The Young Pin Designer Exhibition entered the 38th year in 2019. It has 137 design- related departments from 65 universities and colleges in Taiwan, with more than 10,000 participating students. The exhibition covered a wide range of design, including products, graphics, packaging, video transmission, space setting, fashion design, multimedia, and craft design. A total of 3,848 works were registered this year. In such a fierce competition, 28 works of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology were shortlisted. The achievements of 10 awards included 4 awards from the Department of Visual Communication Design, 1 award from the Department of Information and Communication, and 5 awards from the Department of Innovative Product Design, including the 3 bronze medals in the industry-university cooperation competition.

The Department of Visual communication Design make great use of animation design, visual design, creative life, and other means to present different aspects and styles. In the Young Designer Exhibition, the Department of Information and Communication won a total of 4 Yong Pin Design Awards, namely, special sponsorship awards sponsored by the Department of Culture, Tainan City Government and udn funlife awards by the design companies. Among them, "Little Embroidery" was awarded a Tainan Creative Newcomer Award by Tainan City Government, with Taiwan's traditional technology "embroidery" as the main axis, transforming embroidery technology into a learning game. The new and old cultures collide with each other, producing a great variety of creative sparks and enabling children to cultivate their creativity and patience in the game. The work “Praying to or God”, which also won a Tainan Creative Newcomer Award, is based on the deep historical connotation of the temple culture in Tainan, targeting on domestic and foreign tourists and designing six different gift boxes for different levels of worship. When foreign tourists come to the temple, they can also understand the worshipping culture and process in a relaxed way and relieve the trouble and pressures in their hearts. This can help Tainan become a friendly cultural city. Also awarded was the work "Talking about Temples." As the temple is a good place for gatherings and chats in the past, it carries the historical memory and culture of Taiwan. Using the paper-cut technique, the work describes what took place in front of the temple, showing details about the temple belief and the activities that preserve the old people's life culture. The works are based on cultural heritage and presented in different ways

【The work "Good Planting and Planting Good" by the Department of Innovative Product Design, Southern Taiwan Science and Technology Department, won the favor of the local creative venture company in Pingtung and a bronze medal of the Industry-University Cooperation Competition in the Young Designer Exhibition】

The Department of Innovative Product Design won three bronze medals in the Young Designer industry-university cooperation competition. The work "Lighting Attack" is a sports and entertainment wall decoration set in the company corridor. The team used games to provide incentives for sports, slapping, dodging, and twisting the body in the game. The effect and fun are also the decorations that are integrated into the environment. The work was awarded the bronze medal by the industry-university cooperation. "Good Planting and Planting Good" uses decomposable flower pots made of Tainan's clam shell and coffee grounds to provide the nutrients needed for plants and soil through the calcium, nitrogen, potassium and trace elements in the clam shell and coffee grounds. Therefore, the user does not need to apply fertilization again, and the work is favored by the local creative units of Pingtung, winning the bronze medal. The works by the Department of Innovative Product Design were quite diverse and interesting. The Young Pin Design Award--Sponsor Special Award, sponsored by Yueyue Technology Co., Ltd., was won by "Who Is Coming to My House?”
