  Wisuwat Wannamakok, a PhD student of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won the Brad W. Hosler Outstanding Student Paper Award in the of the 2019 conference of Portland International Center for Management of Engineering and Technology.    2019/10/1    

 

Portland International Center for Management of Engineering and Technology (PICMET) held its 30th anniversary conference in Portland, Oregon, USA. Wisuwat Wannamakok, a Thai graduate student in the doctoral program of the College of Business Administration, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won the Brad W. Hosler Outstanding Student Paper Award. After acquiring a master's degree in economics from Chiang Mai University, a well-known Thai university, Wannamakok entered the doctoral program in the College of Business Administration, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He also attended exchange programs that brought him to study at the University of Lyon in France and the University of Tartu in Estonia.

The PICMET Annual Conference is the largest and most authoritative seminar in the world of science and technology management. It is held in rotation around the world. Every year, more than 300 academic papers related to science and technology management by authors from more than 40 countries around the world are published in the conference. This award selects only one or two outstanding papers each year, recognizing the value of their contribution in practice and theory to business, along with $1,000 in support of the authors to participate in the conference. The award was established in 1997. Over the past 22 years, the winners have come from the world's top higher education institutions, such as Stanford University, MIT, Oxford University, Sydney University, University of Tokyo, Academy of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Korea, etc. 

Wannamakok won the award by his study on the entrepreneurial education and teaching system in higher education institutions through the perspective of institutional theory. As a PhD student at the College of Business Administration, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Wannamakok’s work and performance was indeed very brilliant.


As Wannamakok's advisors, Prof. Wen-Ke Liang and Prof. You-Yu Chang believe that the academic training of the doctoral program of the College of Business Administration, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, is quite rigorous, which laid a solid foundation for the cultivation and research ability of students and their scientific life force. De-Guang Chou, Dean of the College of Business Administration, said that the doctoral program of the college has been taught in English. There are currently 34 doctoral students from 14 countries with a strong international atmosphere. The College of Business Administration has a rich faculty to encourage graduate students to explore the important, but still unresolved, economic and social issues. Thanks to the high degree of internationalization in the college and its stimulation of multiculturalism, it is very beneficial to nurturing innovative ideas and cultivating creativity in students. This award-winning award also shows the excellent educational quality of the high-level research talent training of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
