German iF Design Talent Award design rookie award recently announced the list of winners, the team of the Department of Creative Product Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, won multiple awards, including the 3 works produced under the guidance of Instructor Ya-Lin Chen, two of which won the Winner Awards and one won an Excellent Work Award. All of the three works directed by Prof. Kun Ouyang won Excellent Work Awards.

[The design concept of "C-drive" is based on the "mobile security" of the elderly, so that the elderly can be easily pulled away when they need to go shopping. After shopping, all the user has to do is place the shopping basket behind it. This is a friendly mobile tool exclusively created for the safety of the elders.]
The iF Design Talent Award, held by Germany, is one of the largest and most prestigious competitions for young designers in the global design field. It was commendable that the participating teams of the Department of Creative Product Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, could stand out in this international event. The team led by lecturer Ya-Lin Chen of the department won this session with the works "C-Drive" and "Pet-Amb.” Out of nearly 10,000 entries worldwide, only 112 works could win any awards. The fact that Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology won two Winner Awards proved that the international strength of the students of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. It was very significant.

[The work "Fairy Visual World" won an Excellent Work Award of German IF design.]
The "C-drive" team, a Winner Award winner of the department of Creative Product Design, is composed of students Kai-Jun Hong, Gui-Ru Liu, He-Chuan Gao, and Guan-Yu Lin. The design concept of the team is based on the "mobile safety" of the elderly. In consideration of ergonomics of the elderly, it comes with auxiliary handles and armrests to improve safety as well as shared ride cushions for grandchildren and an integrated shopping basket. It allows elderly people to easily pull away when they need to go shopping. After shopping, they just put the shopping basket behind it, which is a safe and friendly mobile tool for the elderly. Another work of this team, "U-Doc," also won an Outstanding Work Award. This work takes home medical care as an entry point, integrates a medical supplies box in front of the car, and adds a power supply function for the user to charge related equipment. There is a sample storage box above the car, which can keep the patient's blood, urine, and other samples that need to be returned to the hospital at low temperature. At the same time, it is equipped with a smart navigation system, which can automatically plan the consultation route and improve the efficiency of the consultation.

Another team, "Pet-Amb," which also won a Winner Award, is composed of students of the department: Wei-Chi Chen, Shu-Ching Ou, Ying-chi Shao, and Ying-shin Xu. The team proposed that the PET-AMB is an animal rescue vehicle. The vehicle body and the ambulance cabin are designed with independent three-wheeled vehicles to provide higher stability when riding; it is set to be operated by professional rescuers and placed in the ambulance cabin with medical equipment, such as oxygen generators, set inside to allow animals to receive professional treatment immediately in a critical situation. In addition, it cooperates with the PET-AMB integration platform to plan rescue routes and give animals the most immediate and professional rescue.

[The work "Pet-Amb" is an animal rescue vehicle. The vehicle body and the ambulance compartment are designed with independent three-wheeled vehicles. They provide higher stability when riding, and the oxygen equipment and other medical equipment are installed in the ambulance compartment to allow animals to receive immediate professional treatment in critical situations. ]
The team led by Prof. Kun Ouyang from the Department of Creative Production Design received recognition for outstanding works with "T³Monster," "Fairytale Visual World," and "HanDo Sports Entertainment Arm." "T³Monster" is a set of hand training teaching aids combined with an APP. Every monster is designed for different hand muscle clusters to achieve different training purposes, so that children can train their fine hand movements and muscle coordination during the interaction with small monsters. "Fairytale Visual World" is based on fairy tales, incorporated with visual tracking, scanned eye movements, visual discrimination, visual gestation, and other visual perception training objectives into the game. It also applies a magnetic field sensor module to achieve virtual and real interaction between physical objects and the game and to improve concentration and hand-eye coordination. "HanDo Sports Entertainment Arm" is a prosthetic limb designed for children from 6 to 12 years old with unilateral amputation. The modular and adjustable design is designed for learning, sports, entertainment, and life; this is meant to improve the economic problems caused by frequent replacement of the whole prosthetic limb and to assist the daily life of the amputated children and their needs of school learning, so that children can be healthy while they grow up.

Deng-Maw Lu, President of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that Southern Taiwan has always encouraged teachers to help students participate in various competitions at home and abroad and achieve good results. It is hoped that students will hone their lessons in various competitions under the guidance of teachers. Students gain experience and build confidence during the competition. The participating teams were able to compete with the top universities and enterprises on the world stage and achieved good results, indicating that the teaching reform of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has been effective and has reached an international standard.
