  Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Department of Biology and Food Science and Technology, "Mini Plant Vegetation" Successfully Developed Technology Transfer.    2020/4/8    

 

The research team directed by Prof. Jia-Ping Lai of the Department of Biotechnology and Food Technology, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, has developed various types of miniature plant bottle plants based on the plant tissue culture technology and various special media developed by the laboratory. At present, a variety of succulents have been successfully developed Plants, and all kinds of carnivorous plants are bottled. Related technologies have attracted the attention of the industry and have been successfully transferred to Plant Box Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

The use of plant tissue culture technology to propagate excellent strains in large numbers is an important core technology of agricultural biotechnology. Dr. Ming-Long Zheng, Director of Research and Development of Plant Box Biotechnology Co., Ltd., said that using plant tissue culture technology, aseptic propagation technology, and special ingredient medium can regulate plants. The reproduction speed and type, combined with cultural and creative design, can create diverse and customized commodities, and thereby improve the value and uniqueness of miniature plant bottled commodities and the future market potential.

The miniature plant bottle plants made in a sterile operating environment are easy to carry and very easy to take care of. As long as the bottle plants are placed in a home or office environment, periodic indoor lighting will be provided to allow plants to be kept without watering and grows normally under the condition of providing nutrients.

Zhi-Liang Zhu, Dean of the College of Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that in recent years, the university has devoted himself to industry-university cooperation and technology transfer and achieved considerable results. This time the university successfully developed a variety of succulents and various types of carnivorous plant bottle plants, and related technologies have attracted the attention of the industry. In this period of intense anti-epidemic work, injecting cultural and creative design to enhance the added value of bottle planting, as a small tableside object to heal the body and mind during home-based independent health management, or as a gift to convey affection. It is quite timely. It is also hoped Young students interested in bottle planting technology can join the R & D team of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology to jointly inject new vitality into the plant market.
