Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held its 2020 commencement ceremony on June 13. There were as many as 4,355 graduates this year. In response to the development of the novel coronary pneumonia pandemic, the commencement ceremony followed the rules of the CDC and adopted a real-name registration system. In consideration of many factors, the commencement ceremony sent representatives of students and parents to participate. The ceremony was broadcast live on the school’s official YouTube platform, so that all the graduates and parents can also watch the ceremony online. In addition, each department also handled the tassel-turning ceremony on the same day, and graduates invited parents to participate in the ceremony.

Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has made great progress in its school affairs in recent years, along with a great progress in hardware and software facilities. Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology has a great performance in running schools and has reached the top level. In 2020, it was ranked sixth among all the universities of science and technology nationwide by CHEERS Magazine’s evaluation of "Enterprises’ Favorite University Students," placed in a status as high as national universities. This year the graduates have many more outstanding performances. Wei-Shiang Chiu, a doctoral student in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Institute of Technology, was given "Technical Distinguished Award for Biomedical Engineering Master" in the 15th “Light of Technical Education” by the Ministry of Education. Over the years, he has accumulated 12 awards from national competitions and 2 patents; he also won the championship of the tenth DSP competition and was elected as a representative abroad. He also published 3 international journals, 9 domestic and international seminars, participated in the implementation of 5 projects granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and worked on 6 cooperation projects of industry and academia. Among them was also the smart gauze R&D project granted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, with which he had great results and was also invited to the Asian Silicon Valley Exhibition Center.

Yong-Han Kang, a graduate student of the Department of Hospitality Management, the College of Business Administration, was selected as the deputy national player of the 45th International Skills Competition and National Representative Selection Competition. She won fifth place in the West Point Production Team of the 47th National Skills Competition and second place in the 48th National Skills Competition. Pei-Fan Wang from the department of Accounting Information also won the school elite award in the third grade, as a role model for student. The 2020 Graduation Exhibition of the College of Digital Design was brilliant, with works winning the affirmation of major design exhibitions. This year, they won a total of 8 awards in the Youth Design Festival held by the Bureau of Culture, Kaohsiung City, including the gold and silver awards and two awards for excellence works in the Interactive Technology and Game Design Category, as well as the gold, silver, bronze awards in the Three-Dimensional Modeling and Product Design Category, including and winning. In the nation's largest digital content competition exhibition—the 2020 Vision Show Competition, they won 2 gold awards, 1 silver award, 4 excellence awards, and 4 special awards, becoming the biggest winner in the competition. President Deng-Maw Lu said in his speech that Southern Taiwan has been working hard for more than half a century since it was established. Thanks to everyone's hard work, in Cheers Magazine’s 2020 Enterprise Favorite College Student Survey, it was ranked the 26th of all the colleges and universities nationwide, the 11th of all the private universities, the 6th of all the universities of science and technology. With all these outstanding performances, it has outdistanced many national universities.
