The 9th KYMCO Design Challenge Cup held an award ceremony a few days ago to announce the winners. Prof. Ya-Lin Chen and Prof. Jian-Min Fang from the Department of Creative Product Design, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, led their team to winning 1 gold award and 2 excellence awards.

KYMCO (Guangyang Industrial) has been holding the Design Challenge Cup Competition since 2011. This year it has officially entered the ninth session. The award ceremony invited Hong-Yu Su, Manager of the KYMCO R&D Center, together with Dean Ji-Yi Chang of the Taiwan Design Research Institute and Director Pan-Rong Lin of Taiwan Design Alliance. Some heavyweight guests from the design industry also attended the event and gave encouragement to the young designers of new generation. This year the competition was titled "Cross-Border Electricity and Going beyond Generations." The gold medal winning work "Pet-Amb" by the Department of Creative Product Design was designed by students Wei-Chi Chen, Ying-Shin Xu, Ying-Tsi Shao, and Shu-Ching Ou of the department. The team proposed that the PET-AMB is an animal rescue vehicle. The vehicle body and the ambulance cabin are designed with independent three-wheel vehicles to provide higher stability when riding; it is set to be operated by professional rescuers in the ambulance cabin, where medical devices, such as oxygen generators, are installed inside to allow animals to receive professional treatment immediately in critical situations. It comes with the PET-AMB integration platform to plan rescue routes and give the animals the most immediate and professional rescue.

The excellent award winning work "A-Life" was designed by students Kai-Jun Hong, Guan-Yu Lin, Gui-Ru Liu, and He-Shuan Gao. The team takes the elderly's "mobile safety" as the starting point, considers the elderly's ergonomics, and uses auxiliary handles and armrests to improve safety. It also designs daily riding cushions for grandchildren and grandchildren. At the same time, the body is combined with a basket designed to provide senior citizens. The storage needs of people when shopping make a safe and friendly mobile tool for the elderly. Another work of this team, "U-Doc," has also won the honor of a masterpiece. This work takes home medical care as an entry point, integrates a medical supplies box in front of the car body, and comes with a power supply function to charge related equipment. There is a sample storage box above the car body, which can keep the patient's blood, urine and other samples that need to be returned to the hospital at low temperatures. At the same time, it is equipped with a smart navigation system, which can automatically plan the consultation route and improve the efficiency of the consultation.
