The Affiliated Kindergarten of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology held the 17th commencement ceremony a few days ago. Even though the outbreak of the new coronary pneumonia had slowed down, the participating parents still adopted the real-name system, measure body temperatures, and asked participants to wear masks as they attended the ceremony.

Chiong-Yao Huang, Director of the Affiliated Kindergarten of Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, said that in order to cope with the pandemic, the commencement ceremony was greatly simplified. In the past years, graduates would enter the concert hall one after another under the spotlight, but this year the 29 graduates were accompanied by their parents when they received their certificates and gifts. Although the process was simplified, the ceremony atmosphere was still very warm. Jing-Wen Ke, a graduate’s mother, said that the ceremony should have been cancelled due to the pandemic. Fortunately, the domestic pandemic situation was well controlled, and that made it possible for the ceremony to be held. In the short period of time after the confirmation, the teacher led the children to creating a stage play and presented all the details in a perfect series. She really appreciated the teachers who gave the children such a great graduation performance.

The highlight of the entire ceremony was the children's drama "King and the Magic Bean" performed by the graduates. All the bright and lovely clothing, light and melodious soundtracks, changing lights and humorous lines made the audience laughter.

Bi-Jun Gao, one of the teachers, said that from script, music, to the performance, the "King and the Magic Bean" was the cooperation between the students of the Department of Child Care, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and the kindergarten, while the lovely stage setting was the coincidence of the volunteers of the graduating class. The children were excited about their being able to participate in this fun drama performance. Graduate Ming-Chi Chang said, "It's fun to be able to play at the commencement ceremony, but it is sad to leave the teacher and the children."

At the end of the performance, the graduates also presented flowers and cards to their teachers. Many parents and children were red-eyed. As the ending music began to sound, the graduates gratefully took the blessings of the teachers to enter another stage of life.
