After a fierce competition, the 2020 SOLIDWORKS God of Design Competition announced the list of winners and completed all the awarding procedures. This year, the participating teams came from various high schools and colleges at home and abroad. A total of 135 teams signed up, but only 20 teams were shortlisted. The competition was fierce. STUST won 5 awards in the College Group of this competition, becoming the school with the most awards among participating schools.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering of STUST and Shiwei International Co., Ltd. have been working closely for more than ten years since 2004. The company also donated nearly 80 million 3D professional computer-aided engineering numerical simulation analysis software to STUST in 2009. STUST established an International Certification Center to cultivate computer-aided design talents in Southern Taiwan to assist the industry in improving its capabilities of design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing. More than 3,000 CAD and CAE talents have been cultivated over the past ten years, and more than 800 people have been coached to obtain the CSWA and CSWP professional licenses of SOLIDWORKS original international professional computer graphics three-dimensional drawing, and develop the three-dimensional drawing and engineering analysis talents in the industry. As this technology is quite practical, the industry attaches great importance to newcomers who have obtained CSWA or CSWP professional licenses, and most of them will be given better salaries.

National Lotung Industrial Vocational High School (LTIVS) won the gold medal of the High School Group in the "2020 SOLIDWORKS God of Design Competition" with their work "Motion Bubble Electric Toothbrush." The work is based on a design with a small charging stand with toothpaste squeezed inside. When the device is turned on, the electric brush head can form mousse bubbles to make teeth cleaner and the cleaning more convenient. The gold medal of the College Group was won by with the team “Residual Sound” from the State University of Illinois with their work "Green Wizard." The team designed a suction type Mosquito killer, with HEPA filter to achieve the function of mosquito removal and air purification. The Judges’ Special Award was given to the ShoesHome team formed by STUST and NCKU with their work "Wisdom Stairs," which won the favor of the original SOLIDWORKS professional lecturer the academic evaluations of the judges. The design feature is aimed at the limited living space, equipped with a retractable hidden staircase to make the home environment more tasteful and comfortable.

Tai-Yuan Hsu, General Manager of Shiwei International Co., Ltd., said that he was very excited to witness so many outstanding innovative design talents coming to the fore. He also hoped that SOLIDWORKS can take the first place in the 3D graphics software market in Taiwan and in the future continue to contribute to Taiwan’s industry.

President Deng-Maw Lu of STUST said that human resources are Taiwan's most important asset. This year, STUST students have won many international awards, which shows the teaching innovation of STUST has achieved considerable results. He hoped that students who are interested in innovative design will go to STUST to study together, raise their heads, and walk out to the world to face all the world-class competitions.
