In order to develop our country’s college sports atmosphere, improve sports technology standards, and cultivate outstanding athletes, this year the National College Games (referred to as the National Universiade) included competitive cheerleaders as a demonstration category. This year the National Universiade has a total of 18 competition categories. In the past, competitive cheerleaders were only held independently. Under the impact of the novel coronavirus pneumonia pandemic, many domestic sports events have been postponed or suspended. The National Universiade is a highest arena for the sports competition of domestic colleges and universities. The organizer still overcame all the difficulties. In addition to extensive publicity in accordance with regulations, strict requirements were given to contestants to wear face masks and take a body temperature in the measurement system. The competition site was not open to any audience, so that the pandemic prevention work and sports events could be held in a balanced situation and that all contestants could still show their training results, enthusiastically participating in the competition, despite the pandemic. The current domestic competitive cheerleading sport is prevailing, with players showing their self-confidence, optimism, self-motivation, and teamwork.

There were a total of 4 groups in the cheerleading competition of the 2020 National College and University Games of the Republic of China, and there were a total of 7 competitions. STUST has registered for three of them, namely the General Men-and-Women Mixed Group and the Five-Member Women Group and Five-Member Men-and-Women Mixed Group. In the two-day competition under the shining sun of southern Taiwan, the non-stop warm-up stretches, rehearsals, and competitions of the contestants in each group actually consumed the players' physical strength and shed the sweat of the youth and blood of college students in summer.

As Rong-Tian Chen, a team member from the Institute of Human Resources at STUST, said, the STUST Competitive Cheerleading Team has entered its 19th year since the founding of STUST. It is a long-established physical fitness club of the University. There are also many graduate alumni on the same day, and they built a powerful refueling group from all over Taiwan, making a number of refueling slogans to cheer for the team before going to the Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology. It is hoped that under the various support and resource subsidies of the school, all the departments of the school can be more active and inject more into the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the school at the end of the year. With more enthusiasm, we shall look forward to the enthusiasm that students continue to join, join the athletic cheerleading team, and inherit the charming sports of the cheerleading team and the spirit of never giving up.
