In addition, he also encouraged both teachers and students on campus to establish the concept of "sports for a lifetime," which would bring up a kind of school-wide atmosphere for sports. In addition to the school’s teacher-student sports games, basketball, volleyball, badminton and billiard games, STUST has also built a wind and rain court and updated the PU tracks to complement the school’s multifunctional sports venues with indoor billiards, badminton and gymnasiums. The Yoho Gym provides teachers and students with sufficient space in the school to exercise, thereby enhancing the awareness of the importance of sports among the teachers and students and putting it into practice to achieve the goal of a fitness powerhouse.

President Lu further stated that a great university must have excellent athletic performance, which comes not only from exercises of the body, but also from exercises of the will. Only with a strong body and a strong will power can teachers and students become academically outstanding. This year, due to the novel coronavirus pneumonia pandemic sweeping the world, many competitions could not be held, but this cannot be a reason for stopping education. During this period, STUST won 1 gold and 2 silver medals at the American Outstanding Industrial Design Award (IDEA), 2 winners at iF Design Award, and 4 outstanding awards in German RedDot Brand and Communication Design Award. Now STUST has also won good results in the National College Sports Games, which again shows that the teaching innovation of STUST has begun to have its harvest. He hoped that teachers and students of the school will continue to work hard to promote, helping STUST continue its goal of becoming a first-class university.
