The well-known actor Zu-Wu Shie, also the public welfare ambassador of Airli Group, attended the dinner on behalf of the President Ru-Shan Chang, who was a STUST alumnus. As part of its long-term charity, Airlie Group donated NT$ 300,000 in this event to do its part for the disadvantaged students of the alma mater.

Distinctive groups from all walks of life who participated in the fundraising dinner were very enthusiastic. The school especially arranged a campus tour before the fundraising dinner, and President Lu led the tour, so that alumni and companies from all walks of life had a deep understanding of the school’s efforts to improve students’ learning and their campus lives. In the fundraising dinner, STUST kicked off with a micro-film adapted from a real case of economically disadvantaged students. The story told that an economically disadvantaged student was meant to interrupt his studies due to family factors, but after receiving help from all walks of life, he could go to school without any worries and eventually won an international award, which was quite inspiring.

The guests were invited to stage a chorus as the finale. The atmosphere was enthusiastic and the dinner ended successfully.

In order to encourage universities and colleges to raise funds from outsiders (companies, alumni, foundations, etc.), to help disadvantaged students and make them feel at home in school, the Ministry of Education has provided school subsidies in the form of reciprocal grants for fund raising. All the raised funds of the school are used in accordance with regulations and are completely used for the academic guidance of students with overall economic disadvantages, so that disadvantaged students can get a better educational environment. Since the 107th academic year, colleges and universities have urged all walks of life to raise funds and the relative subsidy amount of the Ministry of Education has benefited more than 15,000 disadvantaged students. The flow of funds raised has also been announced on school websites in accordance with the regulations. It is hoped that all walks of life will continue to vigorously support the disadvantaged students. This deed can allow disadvantaged students to focus on learning and turn their future.

STUST President Deng-Maw Lu said that the university would pay for the fundraising dinner. The funds raised this year exceeded NT$ 5.8 million. All the related funds and the Ministry of Education subsidy would be used for the academic counseling of disadvantaged students. He showed his gratitude for the supports from the Ministry of Education, the Board of Directors, and all the alumni and kind people from all walks of life. The disadvantaged assistance mechanism of colleges and universities mainly helps disadvantaged students so that they can focus on their studies and change their future through education. Related donations raised by the school will be used to improve the English ability of disadvantaged students, improve their reading and expression skills, increase subsidies to competition-oriented project production, improve professional ability in practice, and subsidize low-income students to study abroad. The most urgently needed items for disadvantaged students, such as the admission rate of economically disadvantaged students as well as the scholarships and grants given to disadvantaged students to help them over and usher in a better future.
