The College of Digital Design of STUST won the gold medal in the Cultural Resources and Innovation Category with the work "Fucheng Color Research." This work was designed and produced by 5 students—Pei-Chen Jiang, Yi-Zhen Chen, Ching-Ching Yeh, Chian-Yi Wang, and Min-Chi Li, under the guidance of Prof. Zi-Ru Chen from the Department of Visual Communication Design of STUST. It mainly produced three collections of color research in Tainan. The historical sites were divided into three periods, namely, Dutch Colonization and MingPeriod, Ching Period, and Japanese Colonization Period. The colors of each period were analyzed, designed, and recreated, which not only helps people better understand the colors of the city but also become able to make design reference and collection in the future. The gold medal of the Product Design Category was won by the work "Time Passage in Miniature" by Yu-Ching Shih from the Department of Creative Product Design of STUST, under the guidance of Prof. Ya-Lin Chen and Jian-Min Fang. It is a lamp set that combines embroidery and bamboo weaving craftsmanship. The embroidered pattern on the lamp surface is intended to indicate the idea of family waiting for their children to return home late. The old house is the scene, and the warm light comes out from the gap in the bamboo, just like family waiting by the window for their children to come home. This work is divided into three sets, including table lamp, chandelier and wall lamp. First of all, in the table lamp part, Shih uses the flat weaving technique to create a cone-shaped structure, while in the chandelier part, she uses the Japanese tea brush technique to cut and penetrate the bamboo tube. While the lamp paper forms an integral shape, the wall lamp shows weaving the bamboo slices in a way that the center point is diffused. The three lamps are used to light up the home space.

The work that won the silver medal of Cultural Resources and Preservation Category was “Worship and Pray," designed and produced by five students—Shi-Yuan Chen, Yu-Chen Fu, Zhao-Hui Wu, Yu-Fan Tseng, and Yu-Ren Chang, directed by Prof Hong-Bin Hsu from the Department of Visual Communication Design of STUST. The work focuses on deities who manage natural disasters, based on their studies on the religious and cultural assets of 8 temples in Tainan and combined with VR technology and Line ChatBot to design a digital tour for bicycle riders. Visitors can use interactive props and digital audio and video to gain a deep understanding of the architecture and cultural significance of these ancestral temples as they experience the religious and cultural heritages of the city.

The work "Snapdragon" by the Department of Visual Communication Design of STUST won the bronze medal of the Digital Media Category, which was designed and produced by 6 students—Ya-Zhu Chang, Ying-Shuan Huang, Fan-Zhen Su, Hui-Tong Wu, Pei-Shuan, Li, and Pei-Ting Tsai—and directed by Prof. Chian-Fan Liu. By the main character on the stage in her performance, the work implies the expectations that women hold in their lifetimes. Every action on stage signifies a woman's repression and restraint in the society, with bitterness behind it and yet comfort from self-adjustment. Even if the performance fails, the woman may be able to find her own place in this disintegrated society.

President Deng-Maw Lu of STUST expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture for overcoming various difficulties during the pandemic prevention period, so that the achievement of students’ design and hard work could be seen by more people. He also hoped that the students would work harder to realize their dreams with design and show the diversity of their current creative design and digital media.
