In his speech, President Deng-Maw Lu listed the performances and efforts of the STUST over the years, and explained the various educational and academic reforms and international deepening work that is currently being promoted to turn the whole school into a more lively and diverse learning environment for teachers and students to lay the foundation for future development. President Lu pointed out that due to the recent birth decline, cross-strait politics, and the severe pandemic, it is particularly difficult for universities to recruit students this year. However, with the concerted efforts of all the staff members, STUST still has the largest number of students in private universities. He said that the five-year evaluation of university of science and technology this year has been published, and the results of STUST are impressive, showing that the university’s quality and academic research capabilities have been developing steadily. STUST has been recognized by all walks of life and has become the benchmark for Taiwan’s universities of science and technology. In addition, President Lu gave a special introduction to the various constructions of the university, interpreting the meaning of the entire field of student activities as running through the north and south of the campus with the expression of "Heaven and Earth." After the completion of the "By the Water Side" Waterfront Square, the central Greenland Plaza of the university presents an excellent geomantic treasure. The grand overall campus construction plan also fully reveals the concept of “placing students in the center.” In the face of future challenges, STUST will continue to invest in innovating teaching resources and campus environment, building up a solid cultural foundation, and making STUST stronger and greater.
