  STUST held the 2021 Spring Festival Gala Dinner for Overseas Chinese Students: the campus was full of multicultural atmosphere, welcoming the New Year of the Ox.    2021/1/21    

 

STUST, in order to let the overseas Chinese and mainland students feel the atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, especially at the beginning of the winter vacation, a Chinese New Year faculty and student dinner party was held for overseas Chinese and mainland students. The dinner party invited overseas Chinese and mainland students from STUST to gather together. President Deng-Maw Lu, the school supervisors, and more than 60 overseas Chinese and mainland students celebrated the arrival of the Lunar New Year in advance.

At the Spring Festival Gala Dinner, teachers and students participated in the "Hwai Chun" (calligraphy writing) together, and their works were used as decoration for the venue. The dishes at the dinner party added the Malaysian Lunar New Year's special Chinese New Year dish "Lao Sheng," which means that eating it can make everyone enjoy the year, following the motions of winds and water to rise and getting more and more prosperous. President Lu sent red envelopes from table to table at the dinner party to congratulate every overseas Chinese student on a happy new year. The students who attended the meeting also expressed their congratulations to the President in their hometown dialect. The scene was warm and touching.

The Spring Festival Gala Dinner was hosted by students from mainland China, and the performance of the event was taken by overseas students from the Department of Popular Music Industry of STUST. Due to differences in culture and habits, many highlights of the venue were stirred up, adding to the fun of the activity. Lottery activities were also interspersed during the dinner. President Lu and the teacher-in-charge attended the stage to draw out various exquisite gifts for the students. The activity came to a successful conclusion with the celebration of New Year’s blessing songs and a joyous atmosphere. The students also wished each other a great success in the new year, safe and smooth, living overseas Chinese and mainland students with beautiful and profound memories.

President Lu said that the performance of STUST has been recognized by the Ministry of Education, business communities and parents, so that after graduation, the graduates have enough strength to face and welcome the diversified international competition and carry out a brilliant, rich life. In recent years, STUST has attached great importance to upgrading of hardware and software facilities to create a high-quality living and learning environment. It is hoped that students can study seriously at the university and apply what they have learned to overseas residence or stay in Taiwan after graduation. Now due to the severe international pandemic, some students cannot return to their hometown for the New Year. President Lu hopes that everyone can plan for his or her holidays while avoiding from traveling as much as possible and complying with the pandemic prevention requirements to protect themselves and others.
