Under the leadership of President Deng-Maw Lu, STUST appointed key development project teams to cultivate outstanding sports talents for track and field, basketball, volleyball, billiards, tennis and softball, and regularly organize school-wide teacher-student games and various sports competitions. It renovated the school’s sports venues, such as the Rainy Day Stadium, track and field refurbishment, and the multi-functional sports venue—Yohas Center—to provide adequate space for teachers and students to exercise in the school. It has further enhanced the awareness of the importance of sports among teachers and students in the school and forward brought the school’s sports atmosphere, hoping to achieve the goal of building a strong country through exercise.
Director Rong-Yu Su of the Sports Education Center of STUST pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic had made it particular tough for athletes to prepare for each event. Everyone should express his or her gratitude to teachers who offered training and support to make players continuously improve their professional training and competitions in a perfect training environment and finally achieve such outstanding results. The teachers and students of the school are all proud of them. President Deng-Maw Lu expressed his encouragement and gratification for the results of this competition, and he personally went to the National Universiade to cheer for the players. He hoped that the players would be able to break through their own limits and show their strength in all the future competitions. He also encouraged both teachers and students on campus to establish the concept of doing sports for a lifetime.
President Deng-Maw Lu said that in recent years STUST has made quite good progress in academic affairs, educational affairs, and clubs and sports activities. He hopes that this will enhance students' interest in learning in many ways and further improve their academic performance. In recent years, STUST has performed well in sports competitions, and he hopes that they can make persistent efforts to achieve the goal of building a strong country in sports.
