STUST Elderly College Program and "Longevity Yoho Society" recently held an opening ceremony, hosted by President Deng-Maw Lu. In the speech, he thanked the old and new students for their enthusiastic participation under the direction of their instructor, Assistant Professor Pin-Chun Chao.

In addition to the interaction with senior elders, health and leisure, school characteristics and sharing of new life knowledge, the curriculum planning of STUST Elderly College Program this year also comes with design of senior cheerleading courses to allow elders to continue their learning and enjoy their lives after retirement. In order to maintain the health of the students during the pandemic, not only are the number of people control and the division system set up in the classroom, the "Plum Blossom Seat" is but also arranged to maintain a safe social distance. It is hoped that everyone can bring different sparks of life to each other and create beautiful memories.

In the new academic year, elderly college courses include inviting professional tour guides to introduce and guide Route 175 to Dongshan, health care courses offered by doctors and professors from Chi Mei Medical Center, and stress relief and healing activities led by counseling psychologists. As soon as the 110th academic year started, students were introduced to the campus. Chair Mei-Zhu Chen of the Department of Senior Welfare Service and Prof. Ming-Yi Liu particularly introduced the students to the special classrooms and equipment of the Senior Service Building. President Deng-Maw Lu personally led the students to learn about the Ancient Machinery Center, the Digital Gallery, and other special fields. In particular, a piece of "Vitality Heartland" was reserved for the students to use.

Consultant Chian-Sheng Chang of "Longevity Yoho Society" mentioned that the elderly students at STUST not only learn new knowledge and nurture their hearts, but also make many good friends, so that everyone can support each other, not only able contribute to the society and have their self-achievement, but also allow their lives to glow with light and heat.

STUST is committed to the sharing of resources with elderly students for a long time. It continues to manage the Elderly College Program to serve the community and neighborhoods, while it actively cultivates young students to serve the elderly and strives to open up the field of elderly business. Both the University Program and the Supplementary Education Department offer them professional courses to choose from. STUST welcome students who are interested in senior services to study the Department of Senior Welfare Services at STUST. At the same time, anyone over 55 are encouraged to join the great family of the Elderly College Program of STUST.
