The cultural heritage of STUST USR Project held a holiday trip of art, leading the public in the treasure hunt throughout the Yanshuei District to understand the beauty of the craftsmanship of the Lantern Festival.    2021/11/22

The executive team of the STUST USR project—"The Local Creation and Dissemination of Cultural Heritage—Fucheng vs. Yuejin"— recently held the "Yanshuei Trip for Beehive Firecracker Fans—Yanshuei Holiday of Art." Between the historical district of Yanshuei in Tainan City and Yuejin Water Park, there are fascinating art exhibits worth seeing and stopping for. Under the lead of the Yuyu Art Studio and the Yuezhi Museum of Art, the students came to understand the creative background and meaning of the art exhibits on one hand. On the other hand, the art co-creation course activated their sense perceptions, making them able to see the beauty of Yanshuei and opening up their imagination when they visited and explored the field of art.

This event was the third tour for beehive firecracker fans in 2021. It was especially designed for the theme of the Yanshuei Lantern Festival. In view of the fact that ordinary tourists come to Yanshuei, for their limited time to stay, cannot take a closer look at the beauty of the installation art in the Yanshuei Historic District, the event first invited Yuyu Art Studio consultant Shi-Shan Chen to start a guided tour of the works of Yuyu Art Studio, helping the Students understand the symbolic meaning, the production process, and the beauty of the craftsmanship behind the large-scale works of art in Yuejin Port Water Park, Yanshuei District. Immediately afterwards, along the newly completed waterfront park in Yanyan, the students saw Yuejin Port in different directions, walked past Yongcheng Theater, stood at the intersection of Zhongzheng Road, and savored the creative background and meaning of the guardians of the family in the Baroque architecture. Students could experience the artist’s ingenuity in Wangye Alley before Mr. Shi-Shan Chen continued to take the students to visit the Su’s and Yang’s Ancient Homes, the Moon Art Museum (to paint safety lanterns), and You Moon Art Museum. The project was under the guidance of Ms. Zhi-Han Li, using glass colored paper to paste on the safety lanterns or colored pens to paint their favorite patterns, so that students could use their creativity to create safety lanterns in their personal styles. It was hoped that through this activity, students could understand the historical background of the past when the temple lighted up to pray for blessings, and also know the meaning of lanterns based on the folklore. The safety lanterns produced this time would be adjusted according to the pandemic situation. Currently, they are expected to be displayed in Wangye Temple Alley at the Yuejin Harbor Lantern Festival in January 2022.

They ingeniously designed the itinerary and provided new options for the development of Yanshuei tourism during the lantern festival.
