  Graduate student Wisuwat Wannamakok of STUST won the Excellent Thesis Award in the Doctoral Group of Management Thesis in the 2021 Chongyue Thesis Awards.    2021/12/7    

 

Thai graduate student Wisuwat Wannamakok of the College of Business and Management, STUST, has won the Excellent Thesis Award in the Management Thesis Doctoral Group in the 14th Chongyue Thesis Awards of 2021. The competition was sponsored and organized by Taiwan Academy of Management, Guanghua Management Development Foundation, and Chongyue Technology Co., Ltd. A total of 7 excellent thesis awards were given this year. In the 14-year history of the award, most of the winners of the excellent doctoral thesis award have been given to PhD graduates from top domestic universities. It was not easy for STUST to be the first private university of science and technology to be included in the list.

The Chongyue Thesis Awards is an annual event in the field of management. It has always been hailed as the Oscar Awards for domestic management papers. Every year, graduates from various domestic colleges and universities participate in the Awards. This year there were 938 papers from 77 universities and colleges. After the competition with three rounds of anonymous review and oral reports, business management papers with the most academic contributions, practical value, and solutions to important issues were selected to receive this honor.

After obtaining a master's degree in economics from Chiang Mai University, a well-known university in Thailand, Wisuwat Wannamakok, a Ph.D. student of STUST, entered the Doctoral Program of Business Management of STUST College of Business and Management. He also went to the University of Lyon II in France and the University of Tartu in Estonia for exchange research, won the Best Paper Award of the PICMET International Symposium on Indicators in the Field of Global Science and Technology Management. Immediately after he graduated, Dr. Wannamakok was hired as a full-time teacher for the International MBA Program at Dusit Thani College, Bangkok, Thailand.

Wannamakok’s co-advisor professor You-Yu Zhang, from the Institute of International Business Management of NCKU, said that the doctoral student Wannamakok’s thesis explored the influence of the self-innovator movement on the process of technological entrepreneurship through the perspectives of user innovation and open innovation, using a cross-border survey. The results of his research have brought a new perspective to the current literature on entrepreneurial spirit.

Prof. Wen-Ke Liang, another co-advisor, from the Department of International Business, STUST, said that the academic training is quite rigorous at the Doctoral Program of Economics and Management of the College of Business and Management, STUST. It can lay a solid foundation for the cultivation of scientific spirit and research competence. There is a great environment to develop high-quality research.

Prof. De-Guang Chou, Dean of the College of Business and Management, STUST, further stated that the faculty in the Doctoral Program of Management and Management of the College of Business and Management are abundant, with teachers who have good teaching and research capabilities. The college encourages graduate students to explore unknown areas, but still insists that they need to resolve economic, social and managerial issues that have not been settled. In recent years, many doctoral students from the College of Business and Management of STUST have won important research awards at home and abroad. This shows that STUST has a high degree of internationalization and excellent educational quality in the cultivation of high-level research talents.
