STUST President Deng-Maw Lu said that Taiwan’s industries have changed a lot over the past 20 years. Automation and robots are very important in Taiwan’s industry, especially in the future, when Taiwan’s elderly population will gradually increase and there will be a shortage of young labor. Many people predict that the pandemic will become a recurrent one. Under the trend of increasing international trade barriers, Taiwan’s manufacturing industry must abandon low-tech, labor-intensive production methods and use robots to achieve automation and intelligence to build Taiwan’s smart manufacturing industry. This is the direction and opportunity for Taiwan’s industry to reinvent itself. Although this competition is just a fun robot competition, the technology behind it is the key technology to solve many industrial problems.
