STUST held a press conference on January 7th on "Industry-University Co-construction of Robotic Arms and Visual Intelligence Integrated Industrial Application and Cosmetic Aluminum Dishes Automatic Sorting Machine Equipment Donation." President Deng-Maw Lu led the school supervisors and invited Chairman Jin-Chun Su and General Manager Wen-Chi Fu of Hao Ying Machinery to attend the conference. In addition to 1.8 million NTD, Hao Ying Machinery also donated an automatic sorting machine for cosmetic aluminum dishes to the Smart Integrated Manufacturing Research Center of STUST. STUST and Hao Ying will cooperate to develop the visual application of intelligent robotic arms, build an innovative "virtual and real twin" series of cosmetic powder machine, in line with the new generation market application of tool machinery. Based on the concept of industry-university co-construction, they will have a long-term cooperation to develop smart machinery and computer vision core technology, jointly cultivating leading edge technical talent of Industry 4.0.

The management of their industry and academia cooperation is sponsored by the Ministry of Education through its Higher Education Sprout Program. Over the past five years, STUTS has invested nearly 8 million NTD in the construction of its smart integrated manufacturing research center and the purchasing of deep learning servers, a variety of robotic arms, visual equipment, etc. The center has also successively achieved more than one million ophthalmic laser eye tracking technology transfer, shoe machine intelligent control/computing software solution sales, deep learning solar panel defect detection application, and many other industrial applications. With a cumulative industry-academia performance of more than 5 million NTD, STUST has also won a number of innovation and technology invention awards in Taiwan and many awards in student thematic competitions. Most of the students cultivated in this laboratory are currently the main forces of research and development in a lot of major small-and-medium-sized enterprises in the south.

Su Jinchun, Chairman of Hao Ying Machinery, said that the automatic sorting machine for cosmetic aluminum dishes was donated to STUST in hope that the research and development results of their cooperation will be able to connect the application of the manufacturing lines of domestic and foreign cosmetics factories, creating an expected output value in the future. At the same time, General Manager Wen-Chi Fu of Hao Ying Machinery, as an alumnus of STUST, expressed his wish to give back to his alma mater with talent cultivation as his starting point; he also hoped to cultivate more automatic control system R&D technical talents with equal emphasis on theory and practice. A number of outstanding graduates from STUST have joined Hao Ying Machinery and have had great performances. It is hoped that the future students of STUST will be able to work in related fields after graduation to enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan in automation industry.

Deng-Maw Lu, President of STUST, said that the industry-university co-construction is an important strategy for the technical and vocational system to deepen technology, cultivate talents, and activate the industry. The deepening cooperation with Hao Ying Machinery is a good start, and the cooperation methods are of a great diversity, including carrying out industry-university cooperation projects, sending mechanical and engineering students to the company for internships, and offering graduate scholarships to recruit talents cultivated by the technology research center. It is hoped that the two parties can deepen technology research and development on the basis of this cooperation, promoting talent cultivation and producing fruitful results in the future.
