The USR project team of STUST undertook the Ministry of Education's "Local Creation and Dissemination of Cultural Heritage—Fucheng VS Yuejin." A few days ago, the USR project team of STUST held a street parade and opening ceremony, with 120 students holding the lanterns painted by themselves for three months. Accompanied by students from the Department of Pop Music Industry, they walked from Shennong Street, through Guohua Street, to Zhengshing Street, sharing the good news of the lantern show on Shennong Street in the Year of the Tiger along the way. The students participating in the street parade wore a cute headband with a tiger head with the teacher, attracting the public to watch the parade, and successfully marketed the arrival of the Shennong Street Lighting Exhibition in the Year of the Tiger. In order to show that the students cultivated by STUST are not only able to paint lanterns, STUST arranged a performance by students from the Thunder Drum Club and the Hot Music Club to kick off the lantern show, adding luster to the hanging lanterns. They took their own lanterns and went to each household to hang lanterns and complete the hanging activity of Lantern Exhibition for the Year of the Tiger.

STUST has been holding a lantern show on Shennong Street since the Year of the Dog. This year the show has entered its fifth year. The residents of Shennong Street didn’t knew each other from the start, but now they are like neighbors. Even though the show was already over, the street lamps of Shennong Street are still shining bright. Due to the impact of the pandemic, the lantern show in the year of the tiger did not take any gorgeous style; instead, it called for the new street lamps that the planning team, the association, and the residents had jointly replaced with the warmth of the year of the tiger for Shennong Street during the Chinese New Year. This year, the story of the lanterns was particularly emphasized. The lanterns in front of each house had a story, so were the blessings of the Year of the Tiger given to the residents by the painting students. This year's lantern show was officially launched on January 22.

This year, 55 households and 128 students participated in the self-learning course of painted lanterns at STUST. About 500 lanterns were displayed on Shennong Street and the fire lane on the south side (the former Beishigang relics). There were six highlight points to see this year. The first was the welcoming light gallery at the intersection of Shennong Street and Hai’an Road, which consisted of 60 lights with the logos of STUST and the USR project. The second was the circular lantern at the entrance of the Beishigang site on Hai'an Road, which depicted the busy shipping scene of Beishigang in the Ching Dynasty. The third was the beautiful lantern walls in the middle and rear sections of the Beishigang site, painted by office team from the administrative unit of STUST and international students. The fourth was the lantern group of wedding dresses running through Shennong Street and Beishigang site. The fifth was the imaginary lantern group at the entrance of the Symbolic Lantern Exhibition at Shennong Street. The sixth was the lanterns at Shennong Street, which told the stories of each household. Among them, the lamp at No. 66 Yakult Grandpa's house showed the friendship of working in Yakult, while the lamp at No. 147 Shenrong B&B depicted the appearance of Grandpa's gorgeous suits in his time, together with the story of their coexistence with the 300-year-old banyan tree.
