Prof. Shu-Zhen Zheng of the Department of Information Engineering, STUST, who won the 2022 Hsing Yun Award for Education, is a good model of education. For years, she has integrated teaching and research together to help disadvantaged children. The Award Ceremony for the 9th Hsing Yun Award for Education was held recently at the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist dojo in Taipei.

This award is sponsored by the Venerable Master Hsing Yun Public Education Trust Fund, which encourages good teachers who adhere to the ideal of education, work hard, and strive to improve the quality of education, by setting a model for teachers and affirming their contributions to the country and society. The selection committee carefully makes a fair selection each year to find teachers with great education enthusiasm and love, hoping that they can play the role model and drive the trend, so that there will be a group of good teachers who love education and are willing to share their love can inspire the hearts of the society.

Prof. Shu-Zhen Zheng of has served in the Department of Information Engineering for 17 years. She applies her own information technology capabilities to engineering education and uses her research results directly in her teaching content to improve her teaching and practice, achieving a distinct integration of teaching and research. Prof. Zheng always encourages students in a positive and guiding way, so that students can produce results and have a sense of accomplishment. The effectiveness and seriousness of her teaching have been greatly praised by her colleagues. Prof. Zheng's excellent teaching performance has been greatly appreciated by STUST. She has been awarded first-class school-level excellent teachers for 9 times and has won the first prize of the 2021 SUPER Teacher Award of Tainan City.

Prof. Zheng of the Department of Information Engineering, STUST, is usually busy with research and teaching in the university. In 2010, she established the Tainan City Association for the Promotion of Free Courses for Vulnerable School Children and served as the chair of the association for five years. She served as a volunteer teacher in the association every weekend, teaching the disadvantaged school children English, computer courses, playing the violin and. Her love and dedication are greatly admirable.
Deng-Maw Lu, President of STUST, said that STUST has been implementing the Ministry of Education's teaching excellence plan with great achievements. The teaching at STUST has been serious and innovative. Over the years, there have been five Super Teacher First Prize winners. As STUST always focuses on learning and it has been an excellent university that emphasizes moral education. Prof. Zheng’s winning the award has made her a great model for students. In the future, STUST will continue to promote teaching innovation and moral education, strive to develop the university, uphold the concept of excellent education, and create a high-quality educational environment for the benefit of students.
