[A list of winners of the 2022 University Dissertation Authorized Publishing and Competition for Outstanding Doctoral Dissertations and Master Theses]

The purpose of holding this competition was to promote the concept of authorizing and publishing academic papers as well as preventing plagiarism from happening. It was hoped that the full text of theses and dissertations from various schools could be authorized to the National Library and the library of each university, so as to increase the international exposure and visibility of Taiwan's dissertations. At the same time, it promoted the concept of dissertation authorization and disclosure, with the hope to enhance the academic research in the central and southern regions. The papers participating in this conference would be authorized to the Taiwan Dissertation Knowledge Value-Added System, which promotes the co-construction and sharing of dissertation information in the spirit of open access—freedom, equality and openness. It aimed at promotion and dissemination at home and abroad. At present, among the 138 universities and colleges in Taiwan that grant doctoral and master's degrees, 112 have adopted the cloud doctoral dissertations and master theses system provided by the National Library for free, which shows that the promotion of dissertation authorization has achieved results.

In order to encourage participation in the publication of papers and reward outstanding performers, seven individual elite awards were awarded in the competition, including the best manners, presentation, creativity, topic, field control, expression, and appearance. Shu-shian Zeng, Director of the National Library, said that the authorized publication and competition activities for doctoral dissertations and master theses could help universities and colleges establish a cloud library of electronic dissertations with long-term preservation and remote backup management mechanism, so as to root down research energy. A fair open platform of objectivity and credibility was displayed through the websites of public government departments, assisting universities and graduate students to express their academic research results to the world, thereby achieving higher exposure rate, citation rate, popularity and academic achievement in the international academic field Influence. In addition, she thanked the 17 joint co-organizers of this event for their active participation in cooperation this year, and she offered her congratulations to the award-winning students and universities. She hoped that everyone could learn from each other through this event and elevate Taiwan's academic research openness to a higher level.

Deng-maw Lu, President of STUST, said that he was very grateful to the universities for their assistance in handling and actively recommending outstanding doctoral and master students to participate in the event. STUST has always attached great importance to the authorization and promotion of dissertations. For example, at the 2022 Taiwan Academic Resources Influence Conference, held by the National Library, STUST won first place with its largest number of electronic full-text authorizations in the group of private universities of science and technology in the country, and has achieved good results for six consecutive years. It also won second place in "Dissertation Open Award-Number of Full-Text Downloads" and "Dissertation Resources Contribution Award." All these show that STUST has been recognized for its long-term determination to promote academic communication and its efforts in promoting the authorization and disclosure of academic papers.
