STUST held the Commencement of the 111th Academic Year on May 28, with a total of 4,168 graduates. In response to the development of Covid-19 pandemic, the graduation ceremony was held in the outdoor Rainy Day Stadium, with every participant’s temperature taken. The whole ceremony was broadcast live on the school's official YouTube platform, so that graduates and parents could choose to attend the ceremony in person or online. All departments also did the turning of the tassel on the same day, and graduates could invite their parents to participate in the ceremony together. In addition, this year there were robots developed by the Department of Information Management of STUST to lead honorable guests into the venue.

Both President Ing-wen Tsai and Vice President Ching-de Lai issued a congratulatory message to STUST, in which President Tsai encouraged graduates to practice cross-domain innovation and study after stepping out of campus, leading the trend of smart technology, cultivating international citizenship, and jointly seizing opportunities in the post-pandemic era. Vice President Lai also offered his blessings, encouraging the graduates to expand the horizon of their vision and knowledge and embrace the future with wisdom and courage.

Dr. Hsin-hsiong Chang, Chairman of STUST, asked Prof. Ching-feng Mao, Secretary of the Board of Directors, to read his congratulatory speech on his behalf at the ceremony, in which he encouraged the graduates to pursue their dreams bravely, determine their heights with great attitudes, and learn to grow, to face mistakes and failures, and to learn lessons from experiences. He also encouraged the students with the deeds of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Facebook founder Zuckerberg, former TSMC Chairman Morris Chang, and former U.S. President Barack Obama. In the end, he sent his deepest wishes to the graduates with the words, "Please bring our blessings and move forward bravely! You are proud of STUST, and STUST is also proud of you. We are the best in Taiwan!"

STUST has had a good performance in running the university, and it has reached the top level. This year, it won the double crown of the "Engineering Group" and "Information Group," becoming the college with the most favored students selected by Global Vision Magazine. In "Business Management Group," STUST won the second place of private universities of science and technology. It is obvious that the achievements of STUST’s teaching innovation over the years have begun to show its effects. It is expected that there will be more outstanding performance in the future.

This year the graduates had also performed very well in school. Wei-hao Chen, a graduate of the Department of Electronic Engineering, won the silver award in the industrial design category of the 2021 Yushiu Cup Creativity Award Competition, the 2021 Smart Chip System Application Innovation Special Project by Ministry of Education, Final Selection Winner (400,000 prize money) of the 2021 Industrial Bureau AI+ New Talent Selection Competition, Special Wisdom Award of the 2021 Chunghwa Telecom 5G Innovation Application Competition, and many other honors. Indeed, he set an example for all other students during his stay at STUST. Xin-yi, Chang, a graduate of the Department of Business Administration, served as a counselor/general affairs cadre in college and obtained 4 professional licenses. She has served as the president of the fourth departmental society of the department, ranked first in the average class in the school, and won the first place in the department for her special research on the home environment safety of the elderly in urban and rural communities. She has been the first of her classroom over the past four years, as a student model with excellent academic performance and enthusiasm. Li-wen Huang, a graduate from the Department of Pop Music Industry, won a number of honors during her studies at the school, such as the second place in the 22nd Southern Star/Orchestra Competition in 2019, the first place in the 28th Huayun Award/Orchestra Competition in 2019, and the second place in the orchestra competition of the 19th Chishuan Award in 2019, the second place in the 29th Huayun Award/Orchestra Competition in 2020, best lyricist and best song in the 2020 handwriting creation, the first place in the 2021 STUST Professional English Briefing, and the first place in the original group of the 2021 National Chengchi University Golden Spin Award. She was an example of students, good at both singing and writing.

In his speech, President Deng-maw Lu recalled the school's sunshine, wind and rain, persistence in learning, and laughter in life with the students in a perceptive tone, including building G Building for Student Association that embraces the new landmark "Heaven and Earth” Square. On the left, it holds the "Art Center" and "Scholarly Garden" that cultivate the humanistic atmosphere; on the right, it embraces the country's largest "Rainy Day Stadium" and "By the Water Square.” He also encouraged graduates with the consistent excellent performance of STUST alumni, and hoped that graduates would continue to improve and develop on the basis of what they have learned in school, show great achievement for themselves after they leave the school.

Finally, President Lu especially cautioned the graduates that times are changing and they should not stop learning. While some people are looking for excuses to refuse to study, as he stated, others are making great strides forward. In case of difficulties, teachers are the most solid backing for students!
