Chang Gung University of Science and Technology visited STUST a few days ago, and met with the USR Promotion Center and Center for General Education, STUST. Teachers of both universities talked with great enthusiasm about social responsibility and teaching innovation issues.

In order to deepen the practice of social responsibility in colleges and universities and the innovative teaching of general education, Director Hui-fen Chiu of the Center for General Education and Social Responsibility Promotion Center of Chang Gung University of Science and Technology led a group of about 50 teachers from the USR teacher community and general education disciplines to form a social practice and social responsibility promotion center. The general education cross-university and cross-domain visiting group communicated with colleges and universities on talent cultivation and innovative teaching.

Prof. Mei-zhu Chen, Director of the USR “Youth and Elderly Co-creation” program of STUST, shared the team's experience and operation. Since 2017 the program has been launched in Kunsun, Jinhua, and Zhaigang communities in Taiwan. From the very beginning, needs and expectations have begun and continued to bring in practical activities, such as health inspection, health education promotion, food safety and health promotion, residential safety assessment, smart assistive device design and life story recording. In addition to bringing together teachers and students from 8 departments in various fields, it also actively cooperates with various industries, governments and partner schools to expand the output of the program. The various practice programs over the years have fully demonstrated STUST's attention to the well-being of the elderly and concern for local issues, which is evident in the program. The practical goals and objectives of "Students have a way, local people feel the work, and everything has sustainable development"

Prof. Bai-fang Shiao, Director of the USR "Cultural Heritage" program of STUST, with the "Little Well" designed by students as the opening cameo, led the teacher team to review the process of the USR program and understand how the project team used meticulous course design through careful course design. She brought students an interest in Shennong Street and Yanshui Old Street from their hearts, and further negotiated and cooperated with community businesses and residents, producing a variety of cultural and creative products, block games and documentaries, etc. The annual lantern exhibition held in Shennong District has grown significantly with the number of cooperative merchants and participating students. In addition to attracting more than 200,000 visitors each year, the team's dedication to lantern painting has made it more attractive to local people. The street lamps in the community have successfully created community consensus and given shape to local characteristics.
