  The Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science, STUST, made another great achievement winning the Gold Award and two Selection Awards in the 11th Bahamut ACG Awards    2022/9/14    

 

The Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science, STUST, recently won the Gold Award and two Selection Awards in the 11th Bahamut ACG Awards. The award ceremony of the competition, held at the International Conference Center of National Taiwan University Hospital, was organized by the game community website "Bahamut." The competition was composed of comics group, animation group, and game group. Each group also invited producers from all walks of life, including current cartoonists and animation directors. The game group judges were respectively taken by Zhe-kui Liu—S.G. ARTS. CEO/Game Producer, Wei-jie Gao—GAME STEW Founder/Game Producer, Yi-shun Wu—Founder of Shina Technology/ Game Producer, Han-yu Wang—Co-founders of Red Candle Games, and Si-yi Li— SIGONO Co-founder/producer. The lineup was brilliant and strong.

The award-winning work "Perfumer" of the Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science, STUST, was produced by Zhi-cheng Sun, Director of the Department of Popular Music Industry, STUST, and Prof. Cheng-shun Shie, who directed the creative team of students Jia-yu Wu, Rong-xuan Chang, Ying-shiu Chen, Yu-shun Chang, Yu-chian Lin, and Rui-yuan Shu, winning the Gold Award and the Special Selection Award of the Academy of Culture and Policy, respectively. This work is a 3D organization puzzle game based on the themes "visual fragrance" and "organization secret box."

Another award-winning work "Wan Wu Jie" was produced by a creative team composed of students Wei-shun Huang, Yan-long Chen, Guan-meng Chen, Hao-cheng Tsai, Yue-zhong Chen, and Yu-wen Chen under the guidance of Prof. Hua-cheng Chang and Prof. Cheng-shun Shie of the Department of Popular Music Industry, STUST. They won the Best Selection Award in the game group, with its focus on the combination of realism, orientalism, and future technology, as well as and its tense, exciting game battles.

The award-winning work, which also won the Best Selection Award of the game group, was produced by a creative team composed of students Zheng-hong Cheng, Jia-le Shih, Pin-lin Dai, Shing-tong Chen, Rou-shin Guo, and Chun-ling Tsai, led by two instructors—Prof. Yong-ming Huang and Prof. Si-yan Wu. They won this honor with the work "Numa," a jumping game based on a 2D horizontal platform where players can control the main characters to advance the plot and explore the spiritual world.

Deng-maw Lu, President of STUST, said that the Department of Multimedia and Entertainment Science, STUST, has been committed to game research and development, cultivating outstanding game development talents and sparing no effort in investing in equipment. Over the past years, teams of STUST has made many achievements in the foreign competition. This time, the winning team competed with industry-scale teams. It was not easy to stand out from the many entries.
