The 2022 "Taiwan Innovation and Technology Expo" was held in Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 from October 13th to 15th. It was jointly sponsored by government ministries and associations, organized by the Foreign Trade Association and the Industrial Research Institute. Nearly 1,200 patented works offered by 460 manufacturers and inventors from 20 countries at home and abroad were brought together to participate in the exhibition. It was expected that the innovative technology energy of industry, universities, and research units would be presented to drive industrial upgrading and transformation, link together international technology exchanges, and demonstrate Taiwan's industrial advantages and future prospects. The vision of "Digital Nation, Innovative Island." STUST was awarded two golds, three silvers, and three bronzes with works based on the theme of “demand drives Innovaion and design creates future life."

In this competition, STUST won gold medals for its "Canine Rehabilitation Device and System" and "Visibility Evaluation Device for Wearable Screen Based on Virtual Reality." The gold-medal winning work of the Department of Creative Product Design "Canine Rehabilitation Device and System" by the team of Prof. Ya-lin Chen, aiming at the treatment needs of canine arthritis, develops a modular exercise rehabilitation device system for different symptoms and collects various information during use. The sample data is used to solve the problem of medical needs assessment of aging pets. On the othe hand, the gold medal work of the team of Prof. Yi-ran Hsu from the Department of Electrical Engineering "Visibility Evaluation Device for Wearable Screen Based on Virtual Reality" is aimed at early diagnosis and early treatment of glaucoma, which is a portable and simple glaucoma detection system to prevent the crisis of optic nerve fibrosis.

The three works that won the silver medal are "Portable 3D Measuring Device" by the team of Prof. Chi-liang Chu from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. With the purpose of improving traditional fixed measuring equipment, a portable high-precision, high-efficiency and multi-functional measuring device has been developed. The measurement equipment can accurately complete various types of measurement work with the characteristics of mobility and flexibility. On the other hand, the team’s work "Expansion Screw Assembly" by Prof. Shun-yi Hsu from the Institute of Economics and Law uses key technologies to overcome the shortcomings of traditional screws that cannot be reused after construction, developing expansion screws and promoting its application to large-scale infrastructure sites. Prof. Ya-lin Chen's team work "Dog Life Mobility Aids" from the Department of Creative Product Design, designs modular life mobility aids for dogs' rehabilitation needs, including adjustable assistive clothing, universal assistive straps, wheelchairs, joint protectors, leash cord and small bag accessories; each accessory can be adjusted and worn according to the body shape to solve the problem of inconvenience in moving that can affect life functions.

The three works that won the bronze medal are "Anti-pinch Window and Anti-pinch Method of Car Window" by the team of Prof. Jing-zhou Tang from the Department of Electronic Engineering, STUST. The window lifting mechanism provides monitoring of the aging and displacement status of the window raising and lowering mechanisms. The work of Prof. Ying-nian Chou’s team from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering—"Anti-biological Adhesion Copolymer and Its Preparation Method"— is based on the method of polymer synthesis, which generates anti-adhesion materials to be used on the surface of medical equipment or implants , in order to prevent protein, virus or bacterial contamination and produce living textile materials, such as breathable, perspiration, and antibacterial clothing. On the other hand, the work of the team of Prof. Jia-shiang Su from the Department of Mechanical Engineering—"Interactive Material Receiving Method, Material Receiving Module and Its Equipment"—develops a cutting and material receiving module according to the needs of the production process, which can automatically determine the feeding pattern, efficiently cut the required plates, and reduce the waste and avoid the accident of personnel moving the pallet during the process, so as to increase the production efficiency and reduce the cost.
